  1. I've only checked in on Lawlar from time to time because of the Anthony connection so can't speak on the rest of the DBag stuff. From what I read, fans really don't like his defense and are generally happy about the idea of him moving to OF. In the end, seems like It makes the Mayer/Lawlar pick lean towards Mayer for now simply because of the SS defense.
  2. They moved him to the corner once he got to AAA. I think he was most likely going to end up there anyway, but typically high ceiling prospects are kept in the middle as long as possible. He could play there in a pinch, but maybe not a great idea going forward. I'd rather have him there than Abreu.
  3. I don't like either of those options!!!! For Breslow to say he's prioritizing defense, he can't throw Rafaela at 2b and Schwarber at 1b. Makes no damn sense.
  4. That's his ceiling, not the actual expectation for him. He hit 709 at GRE and 685 at POR last season. For a guy whose hit tool is the biggest tool, he has a long way to go. They have his ETA as mid '27, but Witherspoon's ETA as early '28. Somehow, I think Witherspoon gets to BOS first.
  5. "Why don't they call ____ up" is much different than "they waited too long to call ___ up" IMO.
  6. He has 75 MLB regular season innings, but isn't much worse than Casas or Alonso. Are you serious?
  7. Maybe he gets that contract. I'm saying he may not be worth that contract!
  8. It's been a long time since they waited too long to promote someone. Mookie, Devers, Beni and Xander were all rushed through the system. Pedroia made it to BOS in his first year (then had his 41 wRC+). The last player to spend way too much time in AAA was probably Mo Vaughn. I had season tickets back then so wasn't complaining about the 216 games he spent in PAW.
  9. He had that rib injury in May. I don't buy the "lost weight" story. Every player struggles to maintain weight during the year. What's the plan to keep weight on his next season? How'd he lose the weight before summer even started? It doesn't make sense.
  10. Putting Rafaela at 2b is just the worst decision possible for this defense. It would most likely be a Romy/Hamilton platoon and Rafaela is in CF. Campbell would be 4th OFer on the bench if anything. Anthony LF/Rafaela CF/Abreu RF. Signing Schwarber to play 1b would make zero sense.
  11. Past 3 seasons: Naylor 8.1 fWAR Alonso 8.5 fWAR Why should Alonso get significantly more $$$? He's a bad defender heading towards a DH role and older.
  12. Both have had injury issues. Lawlar's bat has been his carrying tool so far and I don't know if he's going to be a SS going forward. DBags are going to try Lawlar out in CF this offseason.
  13. It wouldn't hesitate on that trade.
  14. From my untrained eyes, he did look the most athletic in the OF. I know there is a crowded situation today, but that may not be the case in April or later on in the season. I think the Sox are going to take a longer look at this and will work towards getting Campbell to his ceiling rather than rushing him again. At worst, it's just a lot of bluster prior to Brezzz shipping him out of town.
  15. Since the last ring, he's acted like a complete different owner. Can anyone confirm a head injury?
  16. Three years ago, Schwarber was 30. Was he not in his prime yet? Why should we heavily weight his '25 seasons that was a career high 152 wRC+? Do we think he'll be more likely to hit that way going forward? I can see minimizing 3 years ago for much older players and much younger players, but it doesn't seem to make too much sense for guys that are already in their prime.
  17. Do the 4 OFers include or exclude Campbell?
  18. He's definitely NOT priority number 1. If he's there towards the end of the dance and the Sox still have $$$? Maybe! IMO, the Sox have a talent gap to fill. They need to fill it wherever they can.
  19. I don't think it's "instead of."
  20. wRC+ over the past 3 years: Tucker 147 Yandy 139 Ozuna 137 (never mentioned on here and would be cheap) Schwarber 135 Alonso 128 Paredes 126 Naylor 124 Bellinger 123 Bregman 122 O'Hearn 121 Bichette 116 Soler 115 Suarez 115 Arraez 114 Torres 113 Lowe 111 Turner 110
  21. Rule 5 roster add deadline is next week. FanGraphs blogged about the AL today. From FanGraphs: Boston Red Sox Current Count: 40 Must-Add Prospects: None Current 40-man Bubble: One or two of utilitymen David Hamilton and Nick Sogard, 1B Nathaniel Lowe, SP Cooper Criswell, 2B Vaughn Grissom, MIRP Chris Murphy Fringe Prospects: SP David Sandlin, SP Hayden Mullins, SP Jedixson Paez (inj), SP Yordanny Monegro (inj), SP Dalton Rogers, OF Miguel Bleis, SIRP Caleb Bolden, OF Allan Castro, MIRP Jack Anderson, SIRP Eduardo Rivera Trade Candidates: OF Jarren Duran, 1B Triston Casas Boston doesn’t have a crunch so much as their roster is quite imbalanced. Look at all the young, controllable pitching they have on their 40-man already (be sure to scroll to the minor league group) even before any of this year’s crop of candidates is added. It’s possible the Red Sox will just add a guy or two from my list above and retain basically all of their current position players, but I also consider them a candidate to trade some pitching to address their need at first base. I like Paez as a prospect more than I do Monegro, but I think it’s more important for the Red Sox to roster Monegro to protect him from the Rule 5 Draft this offseason. The timing of his 2025 Tommy John surgery puts him in line for a late-2026 return, potentially a convenient amount of time for a club to roster and retain him. Duran and Casas are listed as trade candidates because of rumors from the deadline period a few months ago.
  22. As with FanGraphs, a penny saved is a penny lost.
  23. Not yet! But just you wait! Once big money Cohen gets involved, a smol bean like John Henry stands no chance!
