I'd rather lose the guys we did than a 2nd and 3rd rounder. Also, I don't believe we were "banned" from international signings, just that we could not sign guys subject to bonus pools.
You could also say that the Cardinals guy was a rogue employee whereas the Sox was an organizational decision.
It's the "always" that will do him in. I think he'll be a good SS for his career, but will never meet the ungodly high expectations that were heaped on him.
I worry about the pen game to game not year to year. If Hembree or Kelly flamed out of the league in the next 2 years, I don't think it would be all that surprising.
It was right after an ownership change and they wanted to trot Magic out there and show LA how they were going to be better than the McCourt years. At the end of the day, it really hasn't changed that much (at least results wise).
Price pitched in the World Series. Joe Kelly pitched in the World Series. Rick Porcello pitched in the World Series. Pablo Sandoval has played in multiple World Series and won the series mvp. Mitch Moreland has played in 2 World Series.

Until Schill puts down the meth, he's not getting in. That guy is a mess right now.
Edgar only has 2 more shots at getting in. I'm not sure if he'll get there as he needs almost 100 more votes to get in. He deserves to be in though.
My ballot would have been:
Ivan Rodriguez
Tim Raines
Jeff Bagwell
Edgar Martinez
Barry Bonds
Roger Clemens
Manny Ramirez
Mike Mussina
Vlad Guerrero
Curt Schilling
