  1. I like these throwbacks.
  2. Rico and Yaz are really the two guys that still show up. Others show up once in a while.
  3. They'd be eating $42M+ for 18-19 on Sandoval's contract and $22M for one year of Hanley's salary. Granted, they are basically eating all of Castillo's contract while he putters around Pawtucket.
  4. This is where I sarcastically disagree with your agreement.
  5. My earliest baseball memories surround collecting 1981 Topps cards when I was 4. The first Sox card I ever got was Dick Drago and it was my favorite card for a long time. The first time I went to Fenway was the summer of 1984 for an Oil Can Boyd start. http://www.baseball-reference.com/boxes/BOS/BOS198406300.shtml This was around the same time that I really because super into card collecting and watching Sox games. Jim Rice was basically a super hero to me. I even ended up getting this cool trash can a few years later.
  6. Serious replies only please. Also, please just chose the time period you first remember being a fan (i.e. while there are pictures of me in diapers and a Sox hat, I'm only counting when I actually went to Fenway, collected cards and watched the Sox on tv). If you also want to provide stories of your earliest memories, that'd be great.
  7. Have you not seem my anti-Butterfield rants?
  8. @Cardinals To celebrate the 50th anniversary of our 1967 World Series Championship, both #STLCards & #RedSox will wear '67 throwback uniforms tonight. Wonder why they won't wear 2004 or 2013 throwbacks?
  9. Is this the same coaching that has trained him to throw the ball all over the place from LF and allowed runners to advanced additional bases?
  10. Rob Bradford is an idiot.
  11. Correa, Machado, Harper, Lindor, Seager?
  12. If the Sox didn't already have Panda and Hanley's contracts, they would have signed EE.
  13. Honestly, the lack of run production isn't only due to one thing. You also have to credit Xander turning into a singles hitter, Pedroia taking a step back, 3b being a trainwreck and JBJ hitting like a pumpkin too. Even if they had signed Holliday instead of Moreland, I'm not sure that the offense or W/L record would be any better.
  14. He sat out 2 games last June. 4 other times he came in as a replacement. That's not a benching.
  15. This is as far as I'll go. MAYBE the Sox managers have been too focused on some of the on air talent for NESN. MAYBE that would have distracted them here and there as they stood on the dugout steps. I don't think they'd get completely lost in daydreaming that they forgot to get a bullpen arm warming up.
  16. You're using him as a source in your argument not me.
  17. He was never benched last year. He was given a week off when he was having calf injuries though.
  18. Career OPS numbers don't matter when you're talking about an aging slugger that could possibly retire this offseason.
  19. Hanley is the dedicated DH.
  20. How do you know when someone believes they know more about baseball than anyone else? They'll tell you how many years they've been watching for. Francona was the greatest Sox manager in history.
  21. I agree. I understand why they made the Pom trade, but I don't think it was the correct move especially after him turning out to be damaged goods. Maybe they sold high on a guy who will never make the majors, but they could have spun Espinoza into someone better than Pom imo.
  22. I support all for hate speech directed at the 2001 Red Sox.
  23. $6M for a guy hitting .165? Sign me up!
