  1. Selsky is useless though. I'd just put him through waivers. No one will claim him.
  2. I'd just take Selsky off the 40 man and replace him with Brentz.
  3. http://m.mlb.com/news/article/127539444/dodgers-class-of-1968-tops-list-of-10-best-drafts/ Nope. That 1968 Dodgers class will never be topped. Los Angeles signed six future All-Stars in 1968 who would combine for 23 All-Star Game appearances, both Draft records. Washburn (Kan.) University outfielder Davey Lopes was a second-rounder in the January secondary phase, while California high school first baseman Bill Buckner (second), University of Houston outfielder/defensive back Tom Paciorek (fifth) and Alabama prep right-hander Doyle Alexander (ninth) were part of the regular June Draft. The cherry on top was a pair of college third basemen in the June secondary phase: Michigan State's Steve Garvey (first) and Washington State's Ron Cey (third). University of Michigan left-hander Geoff Zahn (fifth, January secondary), Connecticut high school outfielder Bobby Valentine (No. 5 overall, June) and University of the Pacific outfielder Joe Ferguson (eighth, June) also enjoyed lengthy careers. The Dodgers inked a total of 11 future big leaguers who combined for a total of 235.6 Wins Above Replacement (Baseball-Reference version), another record.
  4. Nah. Meuller was more important than Millar, imo. Neither would be in the top 10 though.
  5. Yes. Pedroia would be an honorable mention. Varitek gets in because of his 2 rings, times as being a captain and the timeless ARod glove punch. Pedroia has had a much better career.
  6. The Red Sox have hit 18 HRs in the All Star Game, more than any other franchise. Cards have 14 (including Musial's 6) and Tigers have 13.
  7. Players who have hit 3: Soriano, Eddie Matthews, Gary Carter, Killebrew, Bench, Kiner, Colavito, Mays. There were 17 games where no HRs were hit. Catfish Hunter and Vida Blue both gave up 4 HRs. Players that gave up 3: Palmer, Kenny Rogers, Milt Pappas, Mort Cooper, Robin Roberts, Clemens, Carlton, Seaver, Ford.
  8. All of the ones I listed. He hit a total of 4 HRs, 3 with the Sox and the one with the Angels. Stan the Man hit 6. Ted and Lynn hit 4. No one else has more than 3.
  9. Harrison is pretty terrible at 3b. I wouldn't trade Ockimey for him straight up.
  10. His hard hit% is still above his career norm. He really should be only facing LHP and done really well as a PH. He's fine for a 5th OF spot and I'd try to have him learn 1B in the offseason too.
  11. AGon and Drew Previously in reverse order: Ortiz, Manny, Boggs (after Bo's monster shot and the only Sox AS Game HR I remember), Rice, Lynn, Lynn, Scott, Lynn, Yaz, Runnels, Malzone, Ted, Bob Elliott, Ted, Ted, Doerr, Ted, Max West. Edit: Max West and Bob Elliott played for the Boston Braves, not the Red Sox. Please ignore.
  12. The modern Red Sox Rushmore would be Manny, Ortiz, Pedro and Varitek.
  13. Check this thread for more info: http://www.talksox.com/forum/threads/18223-From-Chicago-visiting-Fenway-this-weekend Not sure there'd be a difference between Mon or Tues.
  14. Swihart is a nothingburger. Sad!
  15. I wouldn't trade Ockimey, Lakin and Beeks for either Frazier or Prado. Prado is too much money. Frazier is playing like garbage.
  16. Brentz is playing well this year, but I'd prefer Young too.
  17. How do you plan on getting to Boston from Providence? The train?
  18. If Beltre was at 3rd in 2011, they make the playoffs and Theo is still the GM.
  19. Boras is not the bogeyman.
  20. The FO is real. The cliff is not.
  21. He can play the OF. They used him there in the minors and he works on it before games.
  22. Why wouldn't he even get called up in September? They have a timetable for him. It has nothing to do with readiness.
  23. Beltre for Devers? Nope. Donaldson for Devers? Donaldson is 11 years older and is a FA next offseason. The Jays are actively looking to move him. I think you could get Donaldson for a lot less than Devers right now.
  24. http://www.fangraphs.com/community/success-rate-of-mlb-first-round-draft-picks-by-slot/ 60% bust rate for top 5 picks 65% bust rate for picks 6 - 10 70% bust rate for picks 11 - 15
