  1. I knew that they had worked Lin out in OF. Good to hear that they have faith he can pinch in when needed. That versatility has been missing since Holt went down.
  2. The on-field product isn't always the first priority here. Need to sell panda hats too sometimes.
  3. http://www.espn.com/blog/boston/red-sox/post/_/id/52913/so-long-panda-ranking-the-lowest-points-in-bostons-pablo-sandoval-era 1. June 18, 2015: Sandoval is benched for one game in Atlanta after getting caught "liking" photos of a woman on Instagram during the previous night's game. Sandoval explains he was using his phone in the bathroom between innings. 2. April 9, 2016: In his only start of the season, Sandoval's belt breaks on a swing and miss. The video instantly goes viral. 3. April 5, 2016: Sandoval begins the season on the bench after getting beaten out for the third-base job by Travis Shaw in spring training. The Red Sox had been frustrated with Sandoval for reporting to spring training out of shape. 4. May 3, 2016: Sandoval undergoes season-ending surgery to repair a torn labrum in his left shoulder. 5. June 20, 2017: Sandoval returns to the disabled list with an inner ear infection. He had been batting .212 with a .623 OPS in 32 games. 6. April 23, 2017: Sandoval begins the season healthy after a strong spring training in which he has little competition for the third-base job (Shaw had been traded in the offseason). But Sandoval goes on the disabled list after spraining his right knee while ranging for a hard grounder during a game in Baltimore. He misses a month. 7. Sept. 20, 2015: Sandoval scores the go-ahead run in the eighth inning in Toronto, then is replaced because of dehydration symptoms. He doesn't play again that season, sitting out the final 14 games and not traveling with the team on a season-ending road trip because of pneumonia.
  4. If they stay under this year, don't the penalties reset?
  5. @MikeMonaco_ Age at the time of their Triple-A @PawSox debuts: Xander Bogaerts: 20 years, 8 months, 13 days Rafael Devers: 20 years, 8 months, 20 days
  6. @TomJoyceSports Biggest takeaway from Tzu-Wei Lin getting No. 5 on the day Pablo got DFA'd: he's here to stay
  7. Holt may never play in BOS again due to his vertigo. Rutledge is a AAAA guy and easilty replaceable. They brought in Perralta because you never know if you can catch lightning in a bottle with a guy. Also, they need to field a full roster in Pawtucket and have had a ton of injuries this year.
  8. Probably to keep practicing their defense at other positions. If Lin can keep hitting about .275, he'll have a bench spot since he's more athletic than Holt or Rutledge.
  9. Too many cooks in the kitchen.
  10. Today is the gift that keeps on giving!
  11. @BryanHoch Michael Pineda has a partial tear of his UCL. He is seeking a second opinion but the recommendation is to have Tommy John surgery.
  12. Was just promoted to AAA.
  13. Lots of good PawSox promotions coming up too: 7/21 - David Ortiz replica jersey 7/22 - youth clinic and JBJ bobblehead 7/23 - PawSox HOF induction for Mo Vaughn and Joe Morgan Can't decide which to go to. All 3?
  14. Looks like I'm going to a game next week with my son! Whoop whoop!
  15. It would have brought the WAR to -0.6.
  16. I'm surprised he hasn't yet run to WEEI and declared that he never wanted Pablo in the first place.
  17. Kimmi is right, this was a LL move. ^ The rest of the posts are a good trip down memory lane.
  18. @PeteAbe From July 31-Nov. 25, 2014, Red Sox traded for Allen Craig and signed Rusney Castillo and Pablo Sandoval. $195.4 million for minus-1.5 WAR
  19. Goodbye Pablo. Pom vs TBD Yanks haven't decided what the rotation will look like as of yet.
  20. They've just said it's simply due to age. I think they are being careful about the promotion because they see how much of a valuable commodity he is. They aren't treating him with kid gloves, they are treating him with white cotton gloves as if he's an invaluable piece of art.
  21. Please, no more personal attacks about fatties that have no interest in being useful for the remainder of their 8 digit contracts. It's not polite. He's out the door. Let him commence his late era Marlon Brando phase immediately. My guess is that some restaurant on Federal Hill will be very busy today.
  22. If they trade Devers for anything less than a controllable All Star, I will stop watching for a long f***ing time (not that it would matter to the FO). If you have the top prospect at a position that you are weak at, it makes no sense to do anything but give them a shot.
  23. It was really the most confusing signing the Sox have made that I can remember. I can see how the Crawford signing could have made sense or any of the dumpster signings people have ranted about, but the Pablo deal was just a head scratcher.
  24. @Trav8788 Couple of ways to look at this $1.8M/Run $700K/Hit $1.6M/RBI $6.8M/HR or my favorite $600K/ Game Played
  25. Honestly, if we're not blaming Ben, we'd probably have to blame Tom Werner. I can't see even LL wanting that contract.
