  1. If I'm a "smaller market" ballclub, I'm definitely reaching out to his agent this offseason. He'd be cheap and if he does over-perform, you could spin him off to a contender at the deadline.
  2. Threw the first punch? What are you talking about? All he said was "yuck" to a nightmare performance by ERod in AAA.
  3. Eck is a color guy, not a beat writer. He doesn't really need a good rapport with the players as he's not going into the clubhouse for interviews. All he said was "yuck." Your comment about Eck no longer travelling with the team is uninformed. He generally wasn't travelling with the team beforehand due to personal issues. If you think the organization is rallying around Price, you're on the wrong side of history.
  4. Steve Selsky is on it.
  5. Ben insisted they shouldn't trade him last offseason?
  6. In September, he'll either earn a spot for next year's bench or will earn a AAAA qualifier. He could have a very similar career path to Brandon Moss who also blossomed as a 28 year old.
  7. Vargas hasn't had a QS over his past 3 outings. He's definitely cooling off.
  8. Maybe. Seeing that neither the SeaDogs nor the PawSox will be in the playoffs, there isn't a reason to have him on one roster over the other.
  9. Rutledge will clear waivers.
  10. Nunez hits RHP better than LHP for some reason. I would be tempted to have Nunez hit LHP in favor of Benintendi since Beni's really struggling right now.
  11. http://www.fangraphs.com/statss.aspx?playerid=1009608&position=OF http://www.fangraphs.com/statss.aspx?playerid=1002433&position=OF Speed is good. Getting on base is better. These were two of my favorites growing up.
  12. This is the truth.
  13. His OPS is .876 this year and is worth a look at some point. His production last year in Boston mirrors what Young is doing this year. If Young continues to struggle, they may make a move later in August. It won't happen anytime soon though. If the Sox believe his new swing mechanics are what has given him his recent success, he'll at least get some run in September.
  14. Chavis AND Groome? Crazy talk.
  15. He believes he'll get more guaranteed years if he opts out.
  16. Consider my pitchfork sheathed for now... I won't get too far from it though.
  17. Devers is ok, I guess.
  18. What a swing. If he hit that last night, I would have woken up the whole house.
  19. https://twitter.com/redsoxstats/status/890307433771528192 Devers HR for those at work.
  20. @SoxNotes At 20 years and 275 days old, Rafael Devers is the youngest Red Sox player to hit a HR since Tony Conigliaro in September 1965.
  21. @redsoxstats Devers: 109 mph, 427' crush job Farrell: "I can't commit to keeping Devers in Boston going forward because I'm a complete moron.
  22. The guy with power was in your system all along. Who'd a thunk it?
  23. Anything but Holt hitting leadoff.
  24. It's a travel day. They are going to do whatever they can to get home as quick as possible.
