  1. I think he thinks more of himself than we do.
  2. The only way he opts out is if he wins the CY this year.
  3. So trade JBJ to make room for a s***** defender like JD? Pass...
  4. The problem is that there are only so many bodies you can keep on a roster. It doesn't make much sense to keep Hanley on the team as a bench bat.
  5. @EvanDrellich There have been rumblings that the Red Sox want to trade Hanley Ramirez, would eat some 2018 money, but can’t find a suitor. That plate appearance clause that kicks in for 2019 makes it very tough. @jay_jaffe For 2018 Hanley Ramirez, you can have the contents of my daughter’s diaper pail AND 3 cans of [brand redacted] pale ale that I gave up on in Fall 2016 but can’t bring myself to pour out. LMK if that works. https://www.bostonglobe.com/sports/redsox/2017/10/18/would-red-sox-better-off-without-hanley-ramirez/Y4qb9BbJXGdfUMzN9AHeoM/story.html In the eyes of multiple members of the industry, he’s virtually untradeable given (a) the performance questions; ( a surplus of inexpensive free agent first basemen/DHs; © his $22 million salary; and (d) a $22 million vesting option for 2019 that would become guaranteed with 497 plate appearances. In an offseason when the Sox may need to pursue a top-of-the-market power hitter such as Martinez, it ordinarily would seem ridiculous to wonder whether it makes sense to release Ramirez and thus create a need for a second bat — particularly given that the Sox would thus pay Ramirez $22 million to play elsewhere, while also having to spend on a free agent. (Example: Without Ramirez, the Sox might be left to pursue Martinez while trying to bring back a player like Mitch Moreland on something close to the $5.5 million he received last year.) Yet releasing Ramirez might permit the Sox to add a player who would be a more reliable roster fit in 2018 while ensuring that they wouldn’t be on the hook for his $22 million vesting option in 2019. And finally: @pgammo The Moreland signing guarantees Hanley Ramirez won't get ABs for 2019, makes it easier to trade or release him and clear deck for Martinez, w/Arizona financially viable. Scott Boras still doesn't rule out Hosmer, for Fenway LCF power potential. 'Backs hired JD's H mentor Whatever happened to Gammons? This guy is just terrible now.
  6. http://jetswire.usatoday.com/2017/10/22/jets-wr-robby-anderson-has-a-lot-to-learn-after-4th-quarter-tantrum/ You can keep him. I hope you guys can get a good qb this year. It's always more fun when the Jets are a playoff level team.
  7. By what metric does Hanley have value? I can't see any other team wanting to cover more than $2M of his salary.
  8. There's always been turds in the punch bowl. With how much the 4 horsemen of the apocalypse posted, it was more turd than punch at times. The really useless posters on here now tend to only post a couple times a day so they are easier to ignore. We tend to all get along pretty well and there hasn't been a real flame war on here in a long time.
  9. Yup. The biggest take away is that there aren't any top prospects close enough to help the major league team for the next few years. That's the sacrifice you make to bring in Pomeranz, Sale and Kimbrel tho.
  10. I'm just f***ing with you my man. Figured you were up for it. If kiddie camp is too hard on you...
  11. If Pedey wasn't such a terrible runner, he'd be the perfect lead off guy all day. I hope he can regain the pop he had in 2016.
  12. Being wasted in the lineup I guess?
  13. I would never make a private wager with someone who disappears from the board for years at a time.
  14. His contract is not vesting. He'll play part of the year at best. My guess is he plays less than half the season. Considering all of his shoulder issues, I would be shocked if he didn't hit the 60 day DL early in the spring.
  15. This is how we do in kiddie camp.
  16. Uh, yup!
  17. Go to Hell. Your take is bad and you should feel bad.
  18. Phantom DL or waived in ST.
  19. Maybe someday you'll be fans of guys on the teams you root for!
  20. Instead of yelling about how the official scorer saw the game, they were complaining about the color analyst on NESN. Progress?
  21. Pedey is now a #8 hitter? Boy was that contract worth it! Below market too!
  22. Thanks to Hanley and Pablo! Woot!
  23. They are going to sign another masher.
  24. When he wasn't dealing with a broken toe, his numbers were much better than you let on. He had a better OPS than Xander, JBJ, Hanley and Vazquez. ALSO, IT WAS FIVE ACES YOU GOOBER...
