  1. People are saying it isn't a big deal. We'll see.
  2. Theo signed the star, not Ben tho?
  3. Mookie is def a star. Benny and Devers will be soon.
  4. It's a very arbitrary thing to exclude "guys who don't really play" if it discounts them being injured for a year or in a rookie season in 16 or 17. The fact of the matter is that when you reduce it to 30 CF's for 2017, he ranks 24th in OPS.
  5. I was told over and over again that he was not streaky by moon. Not sure you'll get far in that conversation.
  6. LOL NOPE. That 2013 team was largely made up of Theo signings and draftees. Not even close to 50%
  7. Nelson Cruz is pretty good. If he were a FA, he'd be a cheaper option.
  8. I think SCM is on the trade Pedroia bandwagon.
  9. Fowler, Taylor and Conforto's non-qualified seasons too.
  10. TFW you change the qualifications and Aaron Hicks and Kevin Keirmaier's partial seasons have higher WAR than JBJ... https://www.fangraphs.com/leaders.aspx?pos=cf&stats=bat&lg=all&qual=200&type=8&season=2017&month=0&season1=2017&ind=0&team=0&rost=0&age=0&filter=&players=0 Top 10 defender, sure. Top 30 offensive player, maybe. JBJ is overrated for sure. However, I think he still has value as a starting CF somewhere. Sox should probably just keep him and re-sign him when he becomes a FA. His next contract won't break the bank.
  11. Theo's foundation?
  12. Well, he's not passing that physical. Sox won't let him. You are right, GM's won't just look at 2017 HanRam, they'll also look at his injury riddled career and 2015 when he sucked too.
  13. The Giants want him. DD said the report was false because if he's shopping JBJ then JD Martinez believes he has more power in negotiations.
  14. He was a negative WAR player last year who has suffered through shoulder injuries for the past 3 years. He has NO value. Chris Iannetta didn't even sign for $6M. Why would Hanley in a season with a ton of FA 1b inventory? Mitch Moreland only signed for $6.5AAV and you would give Hanley $8M? That's just crazy.
  15. Ball is life.
  16. You think this is all efffffin' jokes around here?
  17. The cost of signing an ace caliber pitcher on the open market when your team (a) efffff's up and trades away their ace after lowballing him and (2) can't develop or draft starting pitching adequately.
  18. I think he thinks more of himself than we do.
  19. The only way he opts out is if he wins the CY this year.
  20. So trade JBJ to make room for a s***** defender like JD? Pass...
  21. The problem is that there are only so many bodies you can keep on a roster. It doesn't make much sense to keep Hanley on the team as a bench bat.
  22. @EvanDrellich There have been rumblings that the Red Sox want to trade Hanley Ramirez, would eat some 2018 money, but can’t find a suitor. That plate appearance clause that kicks in for 2019 makes it very tough. @jay_jaffe For 2018 Hanley Ramirez, you can have the contents of my daughter’s diaper pail AND 3 cans of [brand redacted] pale ale that I gave up on in Fall 2016 but can’t bring myself to pour out. LMK if that works. https://www.bostonglobe.com/sports/redsox/2017/10/18/would-red-sox-better-off-without-hanley-ramirez/Y4qb9BbJXGdfUMzN9AHeoM/story.html In the eyes of multiple members of the industry, he’s virtually untradeable given (a) the performance questions; ( a surplus of inexpensive free agent first basemen/DHs; © his $22 million salary; and (d) a $22 million vesting option for 2019 that would become guaranteed with 497 plate appearances. In an offseason when the Sox may need to pursue a top-of-the-market power hitter such as Martinez, it ordinarily would seem ridiculous to wonder whether it makes sense to release Ramirez and thus create a need for a second bat — particularly given that the Sox would thus pay Ramirez $22 million to play elsewhere, while also having to spend on a free agent. (Example: Without Ramirez, the Sox might be left to pursue Martinez while trying to bring back a player like Mitch Moreland on something close to the $5.5 million he received last year.) Yet releasing Ramirez might permit the Sox to add a player who would be a more reliable roster fit in 2018 while ensuring that they wouldn’t be on the hook for his $22 million vesting option in 2019. And finally: @pgammo The Moreland signing guarantees Hanley Ramirez won't get ABs for 2019, makes it easier to trade or release him and clear deck for Martinez, w/Arizona financially viable. Scott Boras still doesn't rule out Hosmer, for Fenway LCF power potential. 'Backs hired JD's H mentor Whatever happened to Gammons? This guy is just terrible now.
  23. http://jetswire.usatoday.com/2017/10/22/jets-wr-robby-anderson-has-a-lot-to-learn-after-4th-quarter-tantrum/ You can keep him. I hope you guys can get a good qb this year. It's always more fun when the Jets are a playoff level team.
  24. By what metric does Hanley have value? I can't see any other team wanting to cover more than $2M of his salary.
