  1. I remember Hicks playing very well.
  2. Keirmaier and Pillar are really good and we have had numerous opportunities to watch them the past few years. Hicks seems pretty good too.
  3. If Speier is talking about it, the Sox must be considering it at some level.
  4. I efffffing love it because it conveys so much.
  5. @mike_petriello A very fun an extreme troll-face fact is that Denard Span out-hit Evan Longoria in 2017... Span: .272/.329/.427 102 wRC+ Longoria: .261/.313/.424 96 wRC+ Longoria is probably the most overrated 3b playing right now.
  6. That's why you just dump him. Don't give the union a reason to fight about it.
  7. 10th ranked defensive CF. If Zimmer played more games, JBJ would fall to 11th.
  8. Many. They are legion.
  9. Yup.
  10. The Rays weren't sending him to BOS. Not a chance.
  11. The Lugo contract was fine and less than 10 AAV.
  12. LOL, ok. When was the last time Hanley had a .900 OPS when playing a full season? Travis had a .820 OPS in AA when he was 22 prior to injury. If you don't think he can add power after healing up and growing, I'm not sure what to tell you.
  13. Uhhhhhhhh????
  14. The starters that matter this year cost far more than $6.5. Dombrowski said he's only looking at bringing a LHP for the pen in.
  15. If that's the argument you want to use. http://www.fangraphs.com/leaders.aspx?pos=c&stats=bat&lg=all&qual=y&type=8&season=2004&month=0&season1=2004&ind=0&team=0&rost=0&age=0&filter=&players=0
  16. His upside is much higher than replacement level. I don't believe the scouts that say "Goldschmidt or Votto" but he has the skills to be a good 1b if he develops a power profile (he's not even 25 yet).
  17. If he's not hitting and on the roster, why would they let the option vest?!?
  18. Wooooah... Settle down with these hot takes. Easiest way to not let him vest is to just release him immediately.
  19. Pick up Jay Jaffe's new HOF book. In one chapter, he lays out a case where it would have been better for the O's to keep Bobby Grich around.
  20. Every word can be a weasel word if you want it to be. I think that the Sox fandom think Tek was an irreplaceable part of the franchise. There were many other catchers in the league at that time that could have done the same job as he did. Also, he was a s***** captain.
  21. I like Travis' upside more than Hanley's so I'd rather him be with the big club day in and day out. Maybe even get reps in LF.
  22. Field: Potential average defensive profile. Solid-average range, but may lose foot speed as he gets bigger. Needs to slow the game down defensively and resist the feeling to rush plays. Inconsistent with footwork and staying down on the ball. Choppy at times with his movements and reactions. Your memory is toast! http://soxprospects.com/players/bogaerts-xander.htm He is a perfectly average defensive SS.
  23. All I'm saying is that Tek's peak was overrated. Gedman's peak was vastly underrated.
  24. Sunk cost. I'd rather have Moreland and Travis on the team than Moreland and Hanley.
  25. Yeah, who are you "going to sign" if Hanley stinks? You believe there will still be 1b's sitting at home during the season that will be worth a paycheck? Of course not! You'd have to trade more prospects (which moon doesn't want to do) in order to find a replacement 1b.
