  1. I'm too set in my political sphere to eat there.
  2. 1/3 of all starting 3b's are worse defensively than Devers. Let's complain about it endlessly since every starter needs to be an All Star in 2018. We can't wait a year or two for him to get HOF numbers.
  3. 847 OPS the past 10 days. Send him down tho!
  4. Rick is going to throw that D around like a fish at Pike Place.
  5. .289 BABIP. I think he has had a fair share of bad luck. He's swinging at more pitches in the zone this year. He's making hard contact. I'd love to see him k less, but everyone is Rob Deer now.
  6. Deadline deals are overrated IMO. Maybe get a reliever or two on the cheap, but not a high profile guy.
  7. On fries that have zero flavor, ketchup works best. If anything other than Heinz: GTFO. Don't bring that Frenchs/Hunts/store brand in my house... You'll be thrown down the trap door. On properly flavored fries, a garlic mayo is my favorite. There needs to be a heavy volume of garlic in it though.
  8. Calling up Beni was a panic move. Betts rapid ascension in 2014 was a panic move. You know what would also be a panic move? Sending Devers down right now.
  9. We already saw his season bottom out though. I'm sure every other GM has looked at his May numbers and his past history and are just realizing there isn't much meat left on that bone.
  10. Why trade for him in July when you can just sign him in November if you really want to?
  11. This team has 3 more wins than any other team in baseball. Worrying about a 20 year old 3b who has shown flashes of being the future of your team is wasted energy IMO.
  12. Not a chance. Sox probably don't have a package that would make sense for the O's, but def not one centering around a 29 year old with a 1.4 WHIP.
  13. Ideally, a closer needs to have 2 good pitches (unless you are Mariano Rivera). Kelly has a straight 100 mph FB and not much else. Kimbrel works so well because he can throw nasty offspeed stuff. Kelly doesn't have that.
  14. Needs to hit the DL until he's healthy. If Pedey or Marco were back, he'd be on the DL IMO.
  15. For a half year rental? Pass. Those deals rarely help the team acquiring the big name player.
  16. Well, he's only a rookie manager and I've been watching the Sox for decades so.......
  17. Yup. They have NO incentive to win. If their young guys are leading the charge and they get to .500, it'll be a good experience. Otherwise, they have no use for Hanley especially if Cora thinks he won't do well on the bench. They are also loaded with 1b/DH types.
  18. If it works, who cares what the Yanks do?
  19. It was also done to bring together people from all over to join the fight rather than have it be seen as a local rift. The "expert riflemen" authorized on 14 June were the first units raised directly as Continentals. Congress intended to have the ten companies serve as a light infantry force for the Boston siege. At the same time it symbolically extended military participation beyond New England by allocating 6 of the companies to Pennsylvania, 2 to Maryland, and 2 to Virginia. Each company would have a captain, 3 lieutenants, 4 sergeants, 4 corporals, a drummer (or horn player), and 68 privates... The inclusion of troops from outside New England gave a continental flavor to the army at Boston. A desire to broaden the base of support for the war also led John Adams to work for the appointment of a southerner as the commander of all the continental forces, raised, or to be raised, for the defense of American liberty... Although sectional politics were involved in Washington's selection, in strictly military terms he was in fact the best-qualified native American. He had begun his military career in 1752 in the Virginia militia as one of four regional adjutants responsible for training. During the first phase of the French and Indian War, he served with gallantry as Edward Braddock's volunteer aide at the battle of the Monongahela, and later as the commander of Virginia's two Provincial regiments defending the colony's frontiers. In 1758 he commanded a brigade composed of Virginia, Maryland, and Pennsylvania units on John Forbes' expedition against Fort Duquesne. Washington was the only American in that war to command so large a force. The experience of these years taught him the importance of discipline, marksmanship, and professional study.
  20. Moreover, Congress authorized the formation of ten companies of expert riflemen from Pennsylvania, Maryland, and Virginia, which were directed to march to Boston to support the New England militia. I believe the militia and army being formed in NE were generally unskilled and in need of more experienced men which were brought from elsewhere. I don't think they were sending average joes from VA up to Boston willy nilly.
  21. Most contending AL teams are set at 1b/DH tho.
  22. Betts Beni JD Sale Kimbrel They should be in for sure.
  23. Yeah, I'm not sure he can help this year.
  24. He's not getting called up unless he hits .400.
  25. Detroit could just slide VMart to 1b and flex their DH spot.
