  1. @ClearTheBases #RedSox officially announce opening day roster. Bobby Poyner and Marcus Walden added. To make room on 40-man roster, Marco Hernandez placed on 60-day DL. Looks like Pedey will be back before Marco.
  2. In baseball, you can't trade 4 quarters to get a dollar. It's not how it works. ERod is a good pitcher, but right now he's damaged goods. Chavis didn't play at all this ST. Ockimey isn't projected to be a major leaguer. I don't think the Sox want to trade Travis just yet.
  3. Duffy is signed for 4 more years. You'd have to give up ERod, Swihart and Johnson probably. Also, Duffy has never pitched over 180 innings in a year. He's not the guy to put you over the edge. I'd also rather trade Leon. Maybe KC would want Leon for a AAA arm with upside?
  4. The goal is to trade the minor leaguers that you don't need or at least the ones that won't work out. Sell high. Keep the good ones. So far, DD has made some good decisions. The only questionable trade is Shaw for Thornburg, but nobody on here worried about the trade at the time.
  5. http://www.masslive.com/expo/erry-2018/03/a5b1aa9c36/every_red_sox_opening_day_star.html#incart_river_mobile_index Every opening day starter for the Sox since 1908!
  6. @craigcalcaterra Rusty Staub, Mets, Expos icon, dies at age 73 Rest in Power. One of the Greatest baseball names of all time.
  7. This has been your daily Peter Abraham Corner. Thank you.
  8. @PeteAbe Hanley Ramirez has two Opening Day grand slams [2009 for the Marlins, 2015 for the Red Sox]. No player since at least 1913 has had three.
  9. @PeteAbe Mookie Betts hit Opening Day home runs in each of the last two seasons. He has four career home runs against Rays starter Chris Archer including one leading off the game last July 9.
  10. The Sox survived with Manny in LF, they could survive with JD out there.
  11. The worse JBJ hits, the harder it'll be to trade him for anything of value. The better he hits, the harder it'll be to see him go.
  12. Rubby and Webster weren't very good tho. Might as well trade them then lose them once their options go away.
  13. Hi, I'm KC's GM. Click...
  14. NYY symbol is probably the most famous in sports worldwide (excluding soccer).
  15. My 3 y/o picked out a pink one this winter. I don't have a problem with it. The pink hats are better than the camo ones anyway.
  16. To me, the biggest impact could be: 2. Players are buying into the aggressiveness The Red Sox had the eighth-most walks in the majors last year but have the ninth-least walks this spring. They were above league-average in homers after ranking last in the league last year. Beyond the numbers, Cora’s philosophy to be more aggressive has anecdotally proven effective for Mookie Betts (.340) and Andrew Benintendi (.386) who have been supportive of the idea. Stylistically, this offense is going to look different than it did a year ago. The offense was a big let down last year. If they can improve on that, it will pay huge dividends. I'm not sure the starting pitching can be better than they were last year.
  17. Well, there's always someone that complains. I just think the majority of posters will not complain as much if his bat improves from last year. His defense is fine. I'm not sure many people really hound him on that. Complaining about a bad throw in a game thread is totally fine by me.
  18. Barfield LF, Tavares CF, Castillo RF
  19. @JMastrodonato Cora says opening day Red Sox lineup to be Betts Benintendi Ramirez Martinez Bogaerts TBD (Devers) TBD (Nunez) JBJ Vazquez
  20. There is such a huge difference between 15-16 JBJ and 17 JBJ that it's hard to really know what we are getting this year. If 17 was an aberration and he can OPS .800+, no one will complain. Last year was a little disconcerting.
  21. It was TWO years in a row and one of the seasons was even a half year.
  22. Harper LF, Beni CF, Mookie RF
  23. Just Under 26 hours to go!
  24. bWAR?!?! Get out of here with that nonsense!
  25. My favorite part was the tidbit about Hanley being the only infielder who was shifting correctly based on the cards they follow.
