Mayer is a better defender than Arias. Not sure why you'd plop Mayer at 3b. If anything they need a future 3b. Arias 2b Mayer SS (if he can stay healthy) Romero/Godbout 3b? Probably need one of those spots to be a FA.

I wouldn't let Passan make a prospects list either. I'd trust him for news and rumors though.

He'd be taking Hicks' spot. An opener only goes a few innings once per turn. He'd have to do something else midweek.

Worcester is supposedly more of a launching pad for lefties, but not really held up via park factors. It's more middle of the road for AAA ballparks. The reason hitters can rack up HRs is due to feasting on some mediocre pitching. It would happen at any ballpark in the International League.

If Rafaela kept his butt in CF, his WAR would be higher. He's getting dinged for his mediocre 2b defense.

There were a few that he was a top 10 offensive AND defensive player. Usually a guy is one or the other, not both. He was able to play great defense at multiple positions. Rafaela plays great defense at just CF (average defense at 2b if that) and his bat lags way behind a guy like Zobrist. If we believe Rafaela is a 2 WAR guy, Zobrist is twice as valuable as Rafaela in a regular season. In a great year, he's multiples of that.

I don't trust Bowden to create any prospect list.

Arias has had a hit in each of his first three games. Went 2-5 with a HR last night.

It tells a better story than anything else we have right now.

Murphy has relief experience. Early is a pure starter. Not sure it makes sense to just add Early as a reliever if he hasn't tried out relieving in MiLB.

Sure, but the fanbase wouldn't have been harmed by seeing Hicks in the uniform.

Why do they yank Sogard, Hamilton, Eaton and others from AAA to BOS and back? Because they ultimately don't believe they have longterm value for the team. The see these guys as fungible assets that they can plug in as needed. They've left Campbell in AAA because they care about his progress and don't want to mess it up again by promoting him before he's ready. They see longterm value in Campbell and are going to protect that asset. Campbell looked awful in ST and probably didn't deserve the Opening Day spot. They trusted him and let him run with it anyway. Ultimately, it didn't work out. Campbell has not made any adjustments this season. He is still struggling. He's whiffing at pitches in the zone and not making hard contact or pulling the ball. His defense is also not getting any better. Anthony is the far superior prospect no matter what award Campbell won last season. Campbell had his shot this season and saw his numbers plummet. Anthony had his shot this season and had his numbers climb throughout the year. When pitchers made adjustments to Anthony, he kept hitting. You can't say the same for Campbell. The fanbase isn't down on Campbell. They are being patient with Campbell and are honest about his true ceiling. He should be a fulltime player at some point, but maybe it just shouldn't be this year. That's how it works with prospects sometimes.

Sox could have just eaten some salary from Devers's contract instead of taking the roster space.
