  1. Just put on a little Bongzilla on the stereo and you'll be fine.
  2. The Yanks also won their division by 13.5 games and had won 4 of the previous 5 WS. It's not that surprising that the Yanks beat the Mariners that year. If not for a Mariano implosion, the Yanks would've made it 5 out of 6 years.
  3. 2013 played way above their heads and only made the WS due to Papi becoming the greatest player that ever lived. 2014 played under their heads by a little bit. The 2015 squad just flat out sucked though.
  4. I just need to put a few of the more annoying posters on ignore and then the other s*** wouldn't bother me.
  5. I think Holt can do a fine job there going forward. If they could get a cheap upgrade (not Dixon f***ing Machado), they should go for it. There are a few FA to be 2b's out there, but I always lean towards beefing up the rotation or bullpen.
  6. Replace those 15 Sox with rings with 15 Don Mattinglys and the Sox wouldn't have been in last place.
  7. No way is he going back to back. I bet Leon gets 3 out of 5 games going forward. 2-3 games a week for 6-8 weeks will give us a good look at Swihart behind the plate. He needs to take the opportunity and run with it.
  8. The real good teams can shorten it to 5 innings.
  9. And Cora also sees these guys play the OF before games. He knows far more about their OF abilities than any of us do.
  10. My only point is that a short hot streak can greatly affect your batting average. 10 points half way through the season is no big deal. For example, if he goes 5 for 5 tonight, his batting average will jump 14 points overnight. I think you're getting too far into the weeds with the "if you believe he's an x hitter, it's harder to raise the average" argument.
  11. The problem is that even if one or two posters are doing it in jest, all the other nonsense from our typical scrubs just makes it annoying to read. I'm finding myself logging on less often during games now.
  12. That's not really true at all.
  13. This team is known for it's baserunning blunders. It runs into more outs than almost any other team. Those kind of things can't happen in the postseason.
  14. The O's wouldn't make that deal. It's basically Xander for Britton and Machado.
  15. Beeks 2018 in AAA: ERA 3.05 INN 82.2 BB 23 K 110 WHIP 1.08 Better than any prospect playing for the Mariner's AAA squad.
  16. Owens always walked far more batters and struck out fewer batters than Beeks is doing this year. People liked Owens more because of his body type. That's the only reason.
  17. No, obviously they only brought him up to showcase him. They didn't need to find people to start due to injuries to their pitching staff. Also, I don't believe 2 appearances ruin someone's trade stock.
  18. 970 OPS since 6/24. For those who value the eye test over stats, it's a decent number.
  19. He's not a great framer so we'll have to see how it works out in the long run. A win is a win though.
  20. Rings have nothing to do with anything.
  21. JD in RF: -4.3 UZR/150 Beni in CF: -4.8 UZR/150 They are both not great at those positions. JD's arm in RF is much worse than Beni's arm in CF. However, I bet Beni's arm in RF would be even worse. Defensively, neither is a great option.
  22. He's below replacement in every defensive metric in CF.
  23. Spud, he has an 825 OPS since 2013. On a per game average, he'd hit about 26 HR's over the course of a full season.
