  1. @alexspeier Cora on getting hit by beer: ‘I’m good... You ask my daughter, she didn’t care... The kid didn’t mean to hurt anybody... We’re fine... I’ve just got to be ready to make that play the next time.’ Cora is too good for our s***** world.
  2. EFFF that noise. This is serious business. The "Dombrowski lied to us or doesn't know if his players are even injured" conversation from last offseason was something I'm not looking forward to revisiting.
  3. @JMastrodonato Luxury tax threshold not a limitation for Red Sox, Dombrowski indicates.
  4. Because "not anticipating" is the exact same thing as "100% certain no surgical procedures will be required."
  5. @jcmccaffrey Dombrowski: Wright is a good rotation option as long as we figure out what's going on with his knee. Doesn't have surgery planned, but needs to get it looked at again.
  6. @jcmccaffrey Also Dombrowski confirms Eduardo Nunez has accepted his player option and will remain in Boston.
  7. @alexspeier Dombrowski says the Sox have a group of young pitchers who they really like who will be in Double A next year, contributing to the sense that there is internal depth in the organization.
  8. @jcmccaffrey Dombrowski says they'll be sending qualifying offers to some of their free agents but aren't at liberty to say until MLB announces it on Friday.
  9. @jcmccaffrey Dombrowski says Sale just needs rest this offseason, not anticipating any type of surgical procedures necessary.
  10. @alexspeier Dombrowski says Sox like all 3 of their catchers. ‘I’d say it’s unlikely but not impossible that you have three guys... I’m not sure where that’s going to take us at this point.’ Implies team is open-minded about where it will go with Vazquez/Swihart/Leon.
  11. @jcmccaffrey Dombrowski says if they don't retain Kimbrel, Barnes and Brasier are candidates they'd consider for the closer role.
  12. For the past three years this is certain. Seems to me that until the Yankees can show they belong, it's our division.
  13. Based on what? Blind homerism?
  14. @alexspeier Dombrowski says Sox will do what they can to keep as many players as possible together. Says he’d be thrilled if he could bring back the team as constituted, but recognizes that as unrealistic based on market for free agents.
  15. @redsoxstats How Price has matched up with the top 2 starters on the market this winter, 2016-2018. W L ERA FIP K/9 BB/9 39 19 3.74 3.76 9.0 2.3 Price 35 28 3.77 3.78 7.3 2.7 Keuchel 30 33 4.03 3.70 9.2 2.9 Corbin
  16. Yankees would never make that trade. Sanchez is a future HOFer!
  17. I think the key is for DD to go out and find decent SP replacements. Sox clearly have good bullpen and offensive depth.
  18. If Sanchez is far better than he was this year, maybe Andujar and Torres are far worse? Can't have it both ways.
  19. It's all about the $ with every single person in the world. I'm sure cp, you were no different when you were getting reviewed at work and wanted to be paid fairly. Why should Price opt to take less than what the market will bear for him?
  20. Yup. My son saw all of 1 out of the World Series live. Pretty s*****. No wonder Youth Baseball leagues are seeing dramatic decrease of players year over year.
  21. https://www.talksox.com/forum/threads/18947-Over This poster should be banned.
  22. https://twitter.com/NBCSBoston/status/1057645359818633218 @NBCSBoston Alex Cora: "We scored 16 at Yankee Stadium...Suck on it"
  23. Arb projections: https://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2018/10/mlb-arbitration-salaries-2019.html Red Sox (13) Mookie Betts (4.070) – $18.7MM Xander Bogaerts (5.042) – $11.9MM Jackie Bradley Jr. (4.150) – $7.9MM Eduardo Rodriguez (3.130) – $4.8MM Brock Holt (5.052) – $3.4MM Tyler Thornburg (5.057) – $2.3MM Sandy Leon (4.149) – $2.3MM Matt Barnes (3.110) – $1.5MM Brandon Workman (4.051) – $1.4MM Steven Wright (4.087) – $1.4MM Heath Hembree (3.106) – $1.2MM Carson Smith (4.028) – $1.1MM Blake Swihart (2.164) – $1.1MM 8M/yr for JBJ seems market value to me. Barnes' amount seems low, but what do I know?
  24. The last three five-game World Series matchups have resulted in an average rating of 8.5, and this year arrived at basically the same result. There is probably a lot MLB can do to better promote the game of baseball, but fans ultimately tune in for compelling narratives and close games from start to finish. This season lacked both, and the ratings suffered.
