  1. Vaz is just a more expensive version of Leon.
  2. Small Sample Size
  3. No, it's not. If the Sox wind up in the WC this year and lose, it doesn't count as the playoffs.
  4. I think it's Leon's disposition that could calm these struggling pitchers right now. Vaz just has too many mental breaks (passed balls, steals of home) that I don't think Leon has. I just like his presence behind the plate. Sometimes Vaz seems out to lunch.
  5. This is truth.
  6. Tell that to the people spending 100's of $'s watching an embarrassing product.
  7. Jarren Duran once again led the way by going 4 for 5 with a double, walk, and three runs scored. He is now 10 for 20 to start the year Wonder if he moves up sooner than later?
  8. No, but ALL of the rotation looks like s*** this year. That didn't happen under Leon.
  9. Any Andujar update?
  10. I’m not a Vaz fan. Leon FTW.
  11. @PeteAbe Jays manager Charlie Montoyo was lamenting his team's lack off offense before the game, too.
  12. I too believe the Sox will end the season at 40 - 122.
  13. @redsoxstats Toronto's hits off Sale have been annoyingly weak. Hit% of 46, 38, 25, 18, and 11.
  14. Seeing Manny Ramirez in a Sox jersey again is the bees knees.
  15. He did more than fill in. He was fantastic down that home stretch.
  16. @PeteAbe Mookie Betts hugged all the owners just for future reference.
  17. Gimmie a hell yeah!
  18. @RyanHannable Former Red Sox participating in pregame ceremony: Pedro Martinez, Orlando Cabrera, Tim Wakefield, Curt Schilling, Mike Timlin, Manny Ramirez, Manny Delcarmen, Mike Lowell, Jarrod Saltalamacchia, Will Middlebrooks, Mike Napoli and David Ortiz.
  19. They aren't sending ERod anywhere yet.
  20. It's only April 9th. I'm not concerned about everything as long as everyone is healthy.
  21. @SoxNotes Among the 700+ players with at least 100 at-bats against the Blue Jays franchise, J.D. Martinez ranks 1st all-time in slugging % (.703), OPS (1.096), and at-bats per RBI (3.45). He has homered in 10 of his last 21 games vs. Toronto.
  22. @chadjennings22 Today's revelation that Chris Sale was dealing with a stomach bug the week leading up to his previous start -- when he averaged 89 mph with his fastball -- only adds to mystery of the Red Sox ace, a private person who lets his actions speak for themselves.
  23. @alexspeier Red Sox pitching coach Dana LeVangie, in discussing Sale's dialed-back delivery and velo (as outlined in this story from last week): "He’s over that. His body is a precision-type body. It wants to work. His arm works fast. His body’s gonna work fast. We’ll get that back." In other words, LeVangie anticipated the start of a more aggressive delivery (even if not necessarily max effort yet) that would generate a velocity bump on Tuesday.
  24. @SoxNotes The 8 relief pitchers on the Red Sox’ 25-man roster have combined to post a 1.86 ERA this season (8 ER/38.2 IP). Matt Barnes, Ryan Brasier, and Brandon Workman have combined to allow 0 runs in 14.1 IP while holding opponents to a .087 AVG (4-for-46) with 17 K, 2 BB, and 1 HBP.
