  1. I'm expecting the next poster to be named Oscar Gamble's Afro.
  2. $8.5M is a lot of money, but he's not prohibitively expensive that they wouldn't be able to manage his playing time better when he's not hitting.
  3. Can probably get a DH type cheaply via trade.
  4. If they decided he's not a full time player, no other organization would see him as that either. He's good. You just have to roll with him unless someone knocks you over with an offer.
  5. I'm not sure Dalbec could succeed at the MLB level right now. Maybe someday, but not right now. They'd still have a gap to fill for a year or two and by then you'd have Northcutt or Casas or whoever also close to the bigs. Could Beni in LF be replaced by JD and a DH bat? Maybe that's the easier replacement?
  6. I pass on Hader for Devers. It'd be Hader plus someone else.
  7. Your argument seems to be "he's a great trade candidate but he's only a replacement level player."
  8. I wouldn't trade him for a bullpen arm. It would have to be a top of the rotation starter or a starting position player or for a prospect with an insane ceiling.
  9. He is their best trade candidate, but your argument doesn't work.
  10. I saw Mookie twice in AAA and he didn't get a hit. Should never have called him up.
  11. I agree and have said so before. The trade just has to be for the right package. I don't think anyone is ever untouchable.
  12. Honestly, I think you read too much into it.
  13. Don't know why Cora and DD have to have a 100% symbiosis and have no differing opinions.
  14. http://www.milb.com/player/index.jsp?player_id=666915#/career/R/hitting/2019/ALL Dalbec hasn't started the season very strong, so he REALLY doesn't look ready right now. The idea that they can just call him up and he'll be where Devers is statistically is silly to me.
  15. That's a different argument all together.
  16. It was his high school number, so maybe he liked it more than the other options. https://kronozio.com/card/bdd66d3a-45b5-4654-bd61-4902e7cd9e41/2014-Panini-Panini-Prizm-Perennial-Draft-Picks-Michael-Chavis-24
  17. Unless you are a trained scout, you should rely more heavily on sabremetrics.
  18. It screams "he's not ready, but is better than our other options so why not give it a shot" to me. But what do I know? I'm only right the vast majority of the time.
  19. I just really liked the Chavis interview after his first game. Seems like a real down to earth guy who knows how to game prep. Thumbs up from me so far.
  20. I'll be more concerned about Betts' contract if he's not extended by next April. For now, there are more important things to worry about. Sox can pay any price they want to for Betts.
  21. Spangenburg is 28 and hitting 191 in AAA this year. He also played 245 games over the previous two seasons which bumps up his stats a little (67 extra games). With Devers, you aren't looking to replace his current numbers, you are worried about his future numbers skyrocketing and you losing out on that value. You know this though. You're just picking a weird argument for arguments sake.
  22. But Leon IS ONLY IN AAA AND NOBODY WANTS HIM AND IS A NO GOOD POOPY FACE WHO IS FAT. Or something. 3-0 and counting since the trade.
  23. Tater time.
  24. JBJ's lowest fWAR in a season since being a starter is 1.9 in 2015. I think he'll end up in the 2's again by year's end. He is what he is: inconsistent bat, great glove. Sox got lucky that he heated up in the playoffs last year.
