  1. Sure. I'm not advocating for them to be in the HOF. I'm advocating that it added greatly to the story of the game whenever they were involved.
  2. Yup, Jamie Moyer and Julio Franco were a joy to watch for that very reason.
  3. Beltre should be 100%
  4. @GlobeChadFinn Brad Penny got a vote, but Josh Beckett didn't. Huh.
  5. @TimBritton According to the Mets, the Red Sox have not yet asked for permission to speak with Meulens.
  6. Luis Rojas is the Mets new manager. Muelens, Baker, Perez and all the Sox internal candidates are still available.
  7. I would agree that he's similar to Utley and Kinsler. I don't think either of those guys are HOF or considered "greats."
  8. Yup! Need to move them now.
  9. that's exactly why he didn't get votes.
  10. I think he got screwed by losing out on his normal offseason. He should be better this year.
  11. To me, you slam the door shut by fielding the best possible team on 4/1/20. Let a few prospects go. Get that flag.
  12. My concern is that this seems like the Lester situation to me and I believe if Mookie walks out the door it's because the Sox didn't want to pay his asking price in the first place.
  13. No love for Mathewson or Wagner?
  14. I think our definitions of "living a normal life" and mobility issues are different then. Lots of ex players struggle with chronic pain.
  15. He was a good little player who averaged about 135 games per season. Great glove. Overrated offense. He was HOF level 2008 - 2011. He was really good 2012 - 2016.
  16. If you're the Dodgers and you really want to win this year, maybe you do the deal...
  17. If he was in a wheelchair or on crutches, it'd be all over the Globe. He's just not physically able to play baseball. That's a big difference.
  18. I think he's leading a normal life. He's not bed ridden.
  19. Annual reminder for everyone to get Jay Jaffee's "Cooperstown Casebook" that came out in 2017. It's a great read and goes into the history of how some shittier players got in the HOF and what guys have been inexplicably left out.
  20. I don't care about the % nonsense. If you're in, you're in. There are just some really old BBWA guys with archaic ideas of what the HOF should be. Baseball would be better off if they modernized, dropped the Abner Doubleday lie and got rid of all the stupid unwritten rules that handcuff the experience.
  21. I'll keep my fingers crossed that the uncouth opinions get better.
  22. I'd do one leg, but not both. It'd really set my family up financially.
  23. At that point, he certainly was.
