  1. Do you have moon on ignore?
  2. Why divided by 3?
  3. The lux tax for Myers is 13.8M. My guess is that it would be 1/4 less if he was traded to the Sox, so about 10.35M? The trade would save the sox about 17M.
  4. https://www.sandiegouniontribune.com/sports/padres/story/2020-01-27/padres-mookie-betts-red-sox-wil-myers-cal-quantrill-manuel-margot Multiple sources, speaking on condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to discuss the talks between the teams, said the Padres are willing to send two young major leaguers and at least one prospect to Boston along with Myers in exchange for Betts, the 2018 American League MVP. But in order for the Padres to assume the $27 million salary due Betts on what would essentially be a one-year rental, the team wants the Red Sox to come up significantly in the portion of Myers’ contract they are willing to pay. Myers is owed $61 million over the next three seasons, and the Red Sox are offering to assume about half that. Sources said the Padres would prefer to eat only about a quarter of the money owed Myers in order to take on Betts’ salary. The Padres, the sources said, are willing to include outfielder Manuel Margot or Josh Naylor and starting pitcher Cal Quantrill or Joey Lucchesi in the deal.
  5. The plan is to hire internally. The next manager will already be down in Fort Myers when the players start showing up. Honestly, the only difference right now is that players would report to a bench coach rather than a manager. This is supposed to be more concerning that getting under a salary tax and fielding a team?
  6. You've changed man...
  7. That was before he retired.
  8. That's up to Bloom to do the math.
  9. Maybe because Price's money could be better spent elsewhere?
  10. That's why I'm here.
  11. Schilling threw everything away the second he hung his cleats up. Money? Gone. Goodwill? Gone. The more I hear from Schilling, the more I believe in the ketchup/marker theory.
  12. Do they need to package the manager in a crate on the back of the truck?
  13. Attn notin: https://www.overthemonster.com/2020/1/27/21082944/boston-red-sox-mookie-betts-trade-jackie-bradley-jr-yasiel-puig
  14. Which position will he play?
  15. I'm glad that Bloom is now weighing multiple offers at the very least. Hard to get the best return possible if you are only talking to one trade partner.
  16. And both will be cheaper than Bradley. Pillar and Bradley are both close enough in skill set that I would have non tendered JBJ and signed Pillar.
  17. I was just trying to name a guy that could start for us, but wouldn't be in the Dodgers Opening Day rotation this year. Dodgers really used him like a swing man last year. Maybe they'd rather Price who can eat innings?
  18. It's far more likely Bloom goes with option 2 rather than get stuck with long term dead money. I'm here for it.
  19. Price (1/2 contract) for Stripling and a prospect?
  20. Seems like the Pads were just interested in jettisoning Myers' salary?
  21. Why would the Dodgers want Price?
  22. So because the Dodgers took on CC's bad contract in 2012, they are more likely to do that 8 years later? I can't say I agree with that reasoning.
  23. We know how all the posters on here love that virtue!
  24. Why tender him was always my question. There were a few cheaper comparable options in FA.
