  1. He is, but would you be ok with them signing McHugh, who wouldn't be ready on Opening Day either?
  2. Alex Gonzalez was not equivalent to Renteria.
  3. I forgot the Yankees would even want to start Clint FrAAAAzier. I guess a 0.1 fWAR is kinda nasty.
  4. I was thinking Todd Frazier. My bad.
  5. Not yet. I grabbed some tickets for the games on the other side of Lake O.
  6. Campusano hasn't played above A ball. Why would you take on 3.8M in CBT space just for him?
  7. Honestly, Urshela could totally tank this year. Voit came back to earth last year. Aside from last year, DJ only had one other season above 100 OPS+. Frazier and Gardner are both on the back 9. I think a lineup without Stanton and Judge could go south really quick.
  8. The rumor is that they are now less likely to package young SP's with Myers (Quantril, Luchessi, etc.). If that's the case, the Sox should not be interested in the deal at all unless they are absolutely overwhelmed with prospects.
  9. Wade Miley? The guy who was better in MIL in 2018 than in HOU in 2019? That guy?
  10. What the Padres want is for the Sox to take on more salary. I think it'd be a bad move.
  11. He wanted his man crush Julio Lugo.
  12. Explanation: Sox fans are idiots too Renteria had a bad year in the field but I don’t believe it meant he couldn’t play in Boston. He played well on baseball’s biggest stage (aka World Series).
  13. OCab, the guy who had 8 errors in only 50 games in 2004? That butcher? There's no way the Sox fans would have liked him! More like OBad.
  14. But wouldn't they have noticed how horrible his glove was? I mean, your main assertion is that Sox fans hated Renteria because of his glove and it had nothing to do with his batting.
  15. @JonHeyman Collin McHugh has recently been given the go-ahead to begin throwing after a tenex procedure alleviated an elbow concern. Could be a nice late-spring sign. Thanks to his versatility, nearly every team has checked in.
  16. If that was the case WHY DID THEY LOVE NOMAR SO MUCH? https://www.baseball-reference.com/players/g/garcino01.shtml Maybe they just liked that Nomar blamed all his errors on the groundskeeper?
  17. @SPChrisHatfield . @BaseballAmerica ranked the #RedSox system 20th. That feels right, although saying anything beyond that would be outside my expertise.
  18. Edgar Renteria has a 2005 season that mirrors his 2004 season prior to signing with the Sox. Red Sox fans: surprised Pikachu face
  19. The book should have just been titled: 13 years until the greatest TalkSox poster arises. That's a far more important day IMO.
  20. He's still playing in a huge market though. That's NOT why he isn't a household name.
  21. And they market it through promoting stars..................
  22. Honestly, it's not that hard of a fix!
  23. So they are never going to market another baseball player ever because he could possibly be on steroids? What would the goal of marketing be? RED SOX YANKEES GREEN GRASS TAKE ME OUT TO THE BALLGAME!!! That s*** isn't bringing anyone new to baseball. MLB needs to make stars. They haven't.
  24. I hope not. That would be an amazingly dumb reason.
  25. I disagree! DINGERS! DINGERS! DINGERS!
