  1. Not it.
  2. I spent too long today reading through it. Maybe it’s there, but I didn’t see it.
  3. The CBA is online. See if you can find the language.
  4. https://mlb.nbcsports.com/2020/03/13/baseball-insiders-dont-think-the-game-is-back-until-at-least-may/ This morning Jeff Passan reported that an Opening Day of April 9 — two weeks after the originally scheduled March 26 Opening Day — is highly unlikely. Passan, on TV this morning, after being asked if April 9 was likely: “From everybody that I speak to, players, executives, officials, people at the union, the answer is no. And if there is baseball on April 9, something went really, really well across the country . . . the expectation at this point among almost everybody, is that we’re not going to see baseball until May.”
  5. As a Gen-Xer, I'll continue to be overwhelmed with ambivalence that we are still ignored.
  6. Thunder, there are a ton of quotes I love about just living for today because you can't get too stressed about tomorrow. "Today is a gift." "Let tomorrow be tomorrow. Let tonight be tonight." Nobody knows what the future will really bring us. It's just wasted effort to get stuck in being depressed about all the horrible things that could go wrong. Enjoy and appreciate what you have today.
  7. Try not to get too bummed out. We still don't know how this will affect us long term.
  8. Per the CBA, any player with a Uniform Player's Contract (UPC) is paid semi-monthly after the season starts. Per the following: If the Player is in the service of the Club for part of the championship season only, he shall receive such proportion of the sum above mentioned, as the number of days of his actual employment in the championship season bears to the number of days in the championship season. it seems that an abbreviated season would still provide for full payment to each player under contract (i.e. if you are employed 100% of the season of 150 games, you'll still be paid per your contract). Especially in light of: No Salary Reduction 6.© The amount stated in paragraph 2 and in special covenants hereof which is payable to the Player for the period stated in paragraph 1 hereof shall not be diminished by any such assignment, except for failure to report as provided in the next subparagraph (d).
  9. Per the CBA, each team is required to carry Disaster Insurance. My guess is they'd still have to pay the players, but may be able to file a claim with their insurance company. I looked throughout the CBA and didn't see anything about suspended seasons, but I'll keep looking.
  10. @jcmccaffrey Chaim Bloom and Sam Kennedy will hold a conference call with the media at 3 pm for updates on the Red Sox.
  11. Watch out! Someone may call you "not a true fan" since you don't watch every pitch, every jock scratch, every sign shaken off.
  12. Nice story on Houck giving back to his community. I was hopeful that he'd have a strong spring, but his velo was way down in his last start. https://www.masslive.com/redsox/2020/03/boston-red-sox-pitching-prospect-tanner-houck-building-legacy-in-hometown-with-adoption-charity-i-wanted-to-give-back-to-something-bigger-than-myself.html
  13. IL Gov just said no sports until May.
  14. Mar 2020, a700 becomes a gamer.
  15. @ByChrisMason (Mercifully) Tom Brady is still expected to hit free agency next week. In a plot twist, Peter King says the Bucs are more likely to go after Teddy Bridgewater.
  16. He's a Mt Rushmore TS Poster.
  17. @Joelsherman1 The suspension of spring training is to begin tomorrow. The expectation now is that the start of the regular season will be delayed as well. MLB will be making a statement today on this. In an hour there is a conference call with Rob Manfred and the 30 owners. MLB will make an official announcement afterward.
  18. https://mlb.nbcsports.com/2020/03/12/major-league-baseball-to-suspend-baseball-operations-indefinitely/ Major League Baseball has decided to “suspend baseball operations indefinitely” in response to the COVID-19 pandemic. That means it will suspend spring training, effective tomorrow, and will almost certainly delay to the start of the 2020 regular season. The decision was made on a conference call which concluded moments ago. An official announcement is expected to come shortly. SOMEBODY OWES JACKO AN APOLOGY.
  19. @JeffPassan For anyone questioning MLB's potentially suspending spring training, I'll refer to David Price as he walked into the Dodgers' facility about an hour ago: "It's gotta happen. This is so much bigger than sports. I've got two kids." That feeling is shared by many, many in the game.
  20. Maybe stand up for Jacko? @JonHeyman Spring training games in Florida and Arizona are expected to be suspended. @JeffPassan After a conference call among owners this afternoon, Major League Baseball is expected to suspend spring training. The league likely will delay the beginning of the regular season as well. At this point, it's a formality that ownership-level sources expect to happen.
  21. @Joelsherman1 https://nypost.com/2020/03/12/donovan-mitchells-dad-who-works-for-mets-recently-attended-knicks-jazz-game/ #Mets have been touched by the coronavirus through #Jazz star Donovan Mitchell. The team says they will be addressing this matter today in a statement
  22. Nationals are currently playing to a sellout crowd.
