    No, he just uses bad contracts as scapegoats. I didn't ever want to sign Carl Crawford! I can't possibly afford all of these large contracts that have my signature on them! There is no mandate to cut payroll! I told Bloom to get under the cap!

    I agree. I think this year will be ugly. They won't be great next year, but I think they'll be more fun to watch.

    There are some dogs in there, but Barnes, Hembree, Brewer, Chatham, Lin, Weber and Walden are fine on a 40 man roster.

    Sox are 3.5 games ahead of the Pirates for the #1 pick. They need to go on a losing streak.

    Extrapolated to a 162 game season, at this point in the year they'd be 16 games out. If the Sox and Yanks continue their pace, the Red Sox will lose the division by 54 games (prorated for a full season). In a normal year, they'd be mathematically eliminated from playoff contention in August.
