  1. But what if a team wants to go over the draft bonus pool amount? If a team goes over its threshold by 5 percent or less, it must pay a "luxury tax" of 75% on the amount over the threshold. Teams that go 5 to 10 percent over must pay a 100% tax on the excess, and will lose their next first-round pick. A team that goes 15 percent over can lose its next two first-round picks, in addition to the "luxury tax".
  2. Red Sox ($5,129,900 draft pool) Nick Yorke, 1st round, 17th overall. Slot value: $3,609,700 (Expected to sign) Blaze Jordan, 3-89. Slot value: $667.9K (Signed for $1.75MM) Jeremy Wu-Yelland, 4-118. Slot value: $487.9K Shane Drohan, 5-148. Slot value: $364.4K $679k left to sign the 4th and 5th rounders. Both should sign for under slot.
  3. @jimcallisMLB 1st-rder Nick Yorke signs with @RedSox for $2.7 mil (slot 17 value = $3,609,700). California HS 2B, surprise 1st-rder but also one of best prep bats on West Coast, Boston loves offensive upside & didn't think he get to its next pick in 3rd rd. Arizona recruit @MLBDraft
  4. Reportedly, Manfred jumped all over Mike Rizzo for his statement about testing yesterday. Manfred is losing it. Interested to see how he'll bungle next year's negotiations.
  5. That's how much it would cost for me to watch baseball on ESPN+ plus. It's not deceiving or inaccurate.
  6. @mlbtraderumors Juan Soto Isolating Under Coronavirus Protocol
  7. This is about the cost to watch baseball, nothing else. I don't care about anything else on ESPN+ because I rarely watch it.
  8. Just trying to provide information on here and get away from the other less savory parts of the forum, wise guy
  9. Price of each MLB service for the 60-game Season: •MLB TV: $59.99 •MLB Extra Innings: $89.99 • *ESPN+: $5.99 *ESPN+ only broadcasts one or two random games per day*
  10. @lindseyadler MLB considers Joe West a high-risk individual. He plans to return for this season despite that. "I don’t believe in my heart that all these deaths have been from the coronavirus."
  11. God, no. This is the worst decision. MLB should be staggering games 1pm, 4pm, 7pm, 10pm (PST games) for the whole season. Pushing everything to 730 is so dumb. So most games won't end until after 1030? Dumb. Dumb. Dumb.
  12. 7 on the road against the Yankees, 3 at home. WTF?
  13. @ChrisCotillo Re: testing difficulties... One baseball source called me late last week and described entire testing process as a gigantic mess. Said players were concerned over large amount of false positives and that some were starting to seek independent tests away from team facilities. I am completely shocked by this!
  14. I'd be happy with him just replicating 2018. He was a 4.4 fWAR guy that year, which is career accumulated total.
  15. I think it would take Trout plus a few more top of the line guys to both opt out and speak out before MLB pulls the plug. Trout is clearly the generational talent right now. Him opting out would be huge.
  16. Braves manager Brian Snitker made the announcement. The Braves had multiple positive COVID diagnoses already, including first baseman Freddie Freeman. In the end, Markakis presumably didn't think it was worth it, which should be completely understandable. According to David O'Brien of The Athletic, talking to Freeman on the phone had quite an impact on Markakis' decision.
  17. The following players are opting out: Price Leake Zimmerman Joe Ross Ian Desmond King Felix Nick Markakis Potentially: Buster Posey Mike Trout Zach Wheeler
  18. I think it's weird too. Should just keep it at 30 players. Maybe they want to limit the amount of substitutions so that the whole season doesn't look like a September call up game? There's a good chance that they will have to keep it higher than 26. If one player tests positive, you think you'd have to potentially hold out some other players too just as precaution.
  19. @Joelsherman1 #Astros players and staff were just informed they will not work out today as they also await the results of their COVID-19 tests taken on Friday.
  20. Concourse has a different look this year...
  21. https://twitter.com/AndersenPickard/status/1279090498620272642 @AndersenPickard Cool stuff happening in Boston. Fenway Park suites have been turned into locker rooms for Red Sox players. Each suite is a two-player room. Featured in this video: locker room for Michael Chavis and Alex Verdugo. Above link includes video.
  22. Happy Birthday to Beni. Hope he keeps the long locks this year.
  23. Lucroy's deal was reworked (original had opt outs). It is supposedly just a regular MiLB deal to get him into the player pool. As for other catcher news... Vazquez is ready to go: https://www.masslive.com/redsox/2020/07/boston-red-soxs-christian-vazquez-had-wife-gaby-feed-pitching-machine-during-coronavirus-shutdown-shed-get-mad-when-id-drop-a-ball.html “I was blocking, catching live (batting practices),” Vazquez said Sunday. “I caught bullpens in my house. I’ve got a machine that I can receive, block and do my work and do my best to get in shape.”
