  1. Disagree. You guys are just playing into the A700 narrative that Ben was "coffee boy."
  2. Well, I would never give a fire-breathing velociraptor a car ride, but https://www.talksox.com/forum/members/5604-SoxFanForsyth did.
  3. Maybe they just go with Pivetta or Houck? Maybe they go with both? Hard to really say because we don't have a long history with Bloom here and don't have an idea on what Henry wants next year to look like.
  4. Defector ran a similar story on it today, but I'm not a paying customer of theirs so I can't share. https://defector.com/trevor-bauer-should-just-admit-it/ I think the first few views on the site are free, so if anyone hasn't been there yet, feel free to go read.
  5. ^^^ I see Dombrowski more favorably than Lucchino.
  6. No, I just wonder if Ben would have been able to step in with some authority and maybe part with fewer prospects (i.e. Allen, Dubon, etc.). I bet the big trades get made, but maybe they just don't overwhelm the other team with prospects in every f-r-e-a-k-i-n deal.
  7. The argument I'd make is that it seems like Verdugo seems like more of a certainty to be a part of the future. The book is out on the other guys.
  8. Sale will not be ready. ERod may not be ready. They'll be getting a few other guys just in case.
  9. Devers won the same award.
  10. This team would have been better if Ben had stayed.
  11. No, they haven't. His third pitch is the splitter he's been throwing this year.
  12. https://www.pitcherlist.com/trevor-bauer-gets-some-extra-help/ Do we want to sign a cheater tho?
  13. Bauer would be fun as hell to watch tho. Kind of a jerkoff tho. Kind of a good pitcher tho. Kind of an overpay tho. If he signed with Boston, I could see him melting down against the city if he ever started struggling.
  14. Hey now. Brett Anderson is pitching a 2nd consecutive full season! He's turned it around!
  15. If YoU aDd ThEm Up ToGeThEr YoU GeT OnE gReAt PiTcHer FoR 30 gAmEs!
  16. That's why I said "some."
  17. Stroman IMO.
  18. Considering what Jacko said above, I'm not sure how they could guess on that timetable.
  19. They might sign one of Stroman or Bauer, but I doubt they sign both. If they sign a high priced guy, the other move for a starter will be on the much cheaper end of things. I bet they grab two middle priced options instead.
  20. My post about Dombo and the Marlins was in regards to notin mentioning the tear down.
  21. Some. And some of the major contributors (Ivan Rodriguez, Dontrelle Willis, Pierre, Uribina, Conine) were under Beinfest.
  22. Pick up a contract like the Rays (under Bloom) did with Charlie Morton. Find the guy whose value exceeds or equals the contract. I think signing Bauer will be an overpay for what he'll bring to the staff. He's a guy you get if you're on the brink of being a WS contender. The Sox aren't there right now.
  23. Does it make more sense to go cheaper and grab a few guys like Archer/Gausman/Porcello/Ray?
  24. Both Bauer and Stroman turn 30 next year. I think Bauer is kinda overrated TBH. I think both will get really massive contracts and I'm not sure at this point if I'd want either. Maybe I'd grab Stroman because he'll be cheaper and maybe less years? Here's the complete list of who could be available: Brett Anderson (33) Chase Anderson (33) – $9.5MM club option with a $500K buyout Chris Archer (32) – $11MM club option with a $250K buyout Jake Arrieta (35) Homer Bailey (35) Trevor Bauer (30) Trevor Cahill (33) Jhoulys Chacin (33) Tyler Chatwood (31) Anthony DeSclafani (31) Robbie Erlin (30) Mike Fiers (36) Kevin Gausman (30) Gio Gonzalez (35) — $7MM club option with a $500K buyout Cole Hamels (37) J.A.
