  1. A ranking of Bloom's 2020 scrapheaps: https://www.overthemonster.com/2020/10/5/21501628/boston-red-sox-roster-chaim-bloom-waiver-pick-ups-yairo-munoz-christian-arroyo-phillips-valdez?utm_campaign=mattrycollins&utm_content=chorus&utm_medium=social&utm_source=twitter Munoz Arroyo Brice Valdez Springs Mazza Grullon Arauz Stock Leyer Triggs Kickham Puello Hall Covey Godley My issues with the list: Brice is no way the 3rd best guy. Valdez should be #1. Mazza is better than Springs. After the top 6 guys or so, I don't think the order makes much of a difference. It's like picking from a hat. Valdez Munoz Arroyo Mazza Springs Arauz everyone else
  2. I would say it's more likely than not that they get someone other than Cora. Cora coming back is like a 20% chance IMO. I think Bloom likes him, but is going to give some other guys an opportunity to come in and wow them during the interview process.
  3. Also, no one on here thinks the sky is falling. We're just aware that the Sox have tried to manage payroll a little bit better in recent history. Signing Bauer would be opposite to that. I'd rather have a big money Betts deal than a big money Bauer deal. It's just not likely to happen.
  4. Covey is slightly better than Brice IMO. I think they nontender more than 4 guys.
  5. Covey is slightly better than Brice IMO. I think they nontender more than 4 guys.
  6. If they print money, where is Mookie?
  7. Former Houston bench coach Alex Cora was suspended through the 2020 postseason solely for his role in the Astros’ electronic sign-stealing scandal.
  8. Think he was just banned for the 2020 season, not for 12 months.
  9. He wants to get paid. He won’t be worth the money but he’d be fun as hell to watch.
  10. I think most people on here are going to bitch about the types of moves made this offseason. We should start mailing paper bags for people to breathe into.
  11. You can’t sign him right now. He’s banned for the year.
  12. I think they should keep Beni and hope he turns it around. His trade value is too low right now.
  13. That’s all I’m saying. Pillar is a good comp IMO. JBJ at 5-6 AAV is a real bargain.
  14. “But I asked what does HE think about it!!!”
  15. “Ultimately I’m going to do what I feel is best for my family, and we’ll see how that plays out,” Bradley said. That's all we got to go on then?
  16. Interesting. Maybe each clock cost $10k. That must be where all those operating losses come from!
  17. Go read today's globe for the piece on him?
  18. I think he'll be a very late signing. He'll be hoping for a big payday, but he's not going to be getting signed at the winter meetings for sure. I just don't believe the market is there for him.
  19. And if the sox re-sign JBJ and add Brantley and Stroman, does that fix the issue of race? Of course not.
  20. My position is that my position makes more sense than you saying "the Orioles spend over 75M on non player salary operating expenses in 2020."
  21. Except that an ACTUAL DIRECT QUOTE isn't used by Speier. In fact, I couldn't find anything that was directly from Kennedy, just Speier's summation in his tweet. No other source has the full quote.
  22. They don't have 75M in Operating Expenses excluding player salaries. No f***ing way.
  23. There were 80 African American players on the opening day rosters. Of those 80, 10 were on the Mariners. That leaves about 2-3 per team for the rest of the league. 14 teams had 2 or fewer players. 3 teams had none. The amount of African American players on the current Red Sox team is not an issue. They had at least 3 on last year's opening day roster. Was that enough then? Yes, Boston does have its share of shitheads. The Sox have a bad history with race, but it seems like they've trended in the right direction since they changed the name of Yawkey Way.
  24. He'll be sitting out then.
  25. The Orioles payroll was less than $25M, there's no way they had 100M in operating losses. No way.
