    It's where he needs the work and where we have a great need. No used putting him all over. Give him the experience at 2b. If it doesn't work out, then you know you can move on. However, if he goes down to AAA, he's not getting ANY reps at 2b.

    The top of the lineup should be very solid as long as Xander is healthy. I can't quibble too much with batting order.

    @ChrisCotillo Interesting note on Michael Chavis: He said there have been zero conversations with the Red Sox about playing outfield since arriving in camp. @redsoxstats In the video the Sox released today Cora told him, "Work on the corners here and there, but just work a lot at second."

    Because if Devers got his throwing issues fixed, he'd be better than Dalbec. Maybe easier to fix that than shuffle the lineup all around.

    @PeteAbe #RedSox (vs. Braves, 1:05): Hernández 2B, Verdugo RF, Martinez LF, Devers 3B, Renfroe DH, Gonzalez SS, Vázquez C, Dalbec 1B, Duran CF, and Andriese RHP Verdugo in RF and Duran in CF sounds like a good idea to me.

    He struggled last year because his swing was a mess and he couldn't watch video during the games to prep. It had nothing to do with the batting order.

    If Dalbec was a vastly better defender, they would have kept him at 3b. The truth is, Dalbec is just an average defender at best. You're not going to move Devers off position for that defensive profile.

    It's always been his throwing, not his range. Maybe it's a mental block? Maybe it's him not setting his feet?

    I don't think Chaim sees Devers' defense as keeping us from the playoffs. We're on the outside looking in right now. I think Chaim's plan is to watch Devers this year and move him to DH/1B next offseason if there isn't improvement. This team is NOT a WS contender. Moving a "butcher" off the position doesn't fix the larger issues with this roster.
