  1. Oh fine. Whatever you say Imperial59/Dutchy... We know who you really are.
  2. That sounds like something Dutchy would say. I think we've finally figured you out!
  3. Dalbec's bb rate has been 11-15%. WMD's was 4-8%. They really aren't the same hitter. Dalbec walks more and has much more power. WMD had good power. Dalbec has elite power.
  4. And I've always said how much I liked Adam Dunn. Dalbec will stick around for a while. I just think his future isn't as starting 1B.
  5. Replace with pitch clock instead!
  6. If Casas is OPSing 950 on July 1, seems like he'd help the team more than Dalbec. So yea, his job is in jeopardy depending on Casas' development.
  7. As I said above "His OBP will be ok, but his batting average will be closer to Mendoza than many old school fans would like."
  8. It remains to be seen what they do with Wander Franco. It certainly looks like they messed around with service time the year they brought up Snell. Adames probably should have been ready opening day in 2018 too. Archer in 2013?
  9. A fair question is: Why not start the season with a 6 man rotation of ERod/Eovaldi/Richards/Perez/Pivetta/Houck? Minimizes injury risk?
  10. Which negativity? That Houck is probably a bullpen arm? That's what scouts have been saying since he was drafted.
  11. Steamer has him at .234 and that's the high-water mark of projections. He only hit .234 in 439 games in AA in 2019.
  12. Sometimes the arb costs exceeds the players fair market value. The Red Sox don't have to worry about messing with player time.
  13. AAA season doesn't start until May. Hard to see his development getting that much better in April if he's not facing hitters.
  14. The clock only matters based on the size of the contract. Why mess around with guys who can provide value but will never become too expensive to keep?
  15. If they need an additional starter, they'll use Andriese. The first guy up in an emergency situation would probably be Gossett. They also may just go with bullpen days as they have in the past.
  16. There's a non zero chance that Dalbec is hitting .200 in July. If that happens, Casas will have every opportunity to come up, especially if the Sox are competing.
  17. 6 of one, half a dozen the other.
  18. Houck's clock doesn't matter as he really isn't in the upper echelon of talent.
  19. Pivetta goes to the pen, Brice is DFA'd.
  20. I think Downs, Casas and Duran could all force their way onto this roster. Is it likely to happen? Probably not. I think at least one of those guys mashes and winds up being a starter after the ASB. Cordero and Renfroe would be a good platoon in theory. We'll just have to see if Cordero can stay healthy. Also, who would the other OFer be aside from Verdugo? Marwin? Kiké? They have pushed Chavis into a IF only role. This team isn't set up for Cordero and Renfroe to be strictly platoon.
  21. If he hits 250, I'll be surprised. Like I've said before, I enjoy the Dalbec experience and will look forward to 45 HR's and 225 K's. His OBP will be ok, but his batting average will be closer to Mendoza than many old school fans would like.
  22. He still needs to work on his secondary stuff if he wants to be a starter. Obviously, there is more value to him starting and they need to do whatever they can to get there. He's most likely just going to the pen at some point though.
