  1. Gilberto Jimenez has hit safely in 12 of 13 games. I'd keep him in Salem so that he gets to the All Star game and then promote him to Greenville.
  2. Cam Cannon (aka baby Pedroia) is OPSing 1.060 in Greenville. Make room for him in Portland. Player of the Day: Cameron Cannon led the NCAA in doubles on his way to Boston making him the 43rd overall pick in the 2019 draft. He struggled in his professional debut, getting hurt after signing and then hitting just .205/.289/.335 in 170 with Lowell. The former Arizona Wildcat has turned things around in the early part of the season, delivering three hits for Greenville for his seventh multi-hit effort in 13 games. Cannon is 11 for 23 in his last five, bringing his season line to .347/.407/.653.
  3. Miese hit his 7th GD HR this year. Bring that to WOO after they promote Santana please.
  4. Time to bring Santana up. He's 9 for 20 at AAA. He looks to be ready. He's played all over the diamond.
  5. He is graded as a current 30 hit tool, 55 raw power, 55 speed, 45 field. The problem is that his current game power is 35. He's only played 6 games above AA and has never really hit for a high average. Maybe his power comes along and makes up for it? FWIW, ZiPS/Steamer had him only playing part of the year in MLB and performing pretty horribly.
  6. So then the only CF guy they have on the farm is Jimenez?
  7. Now if only German would pick up his end of the bargain too...
  8. Why do you think he's falling? He doesn't seem to be pitching worse? Is it just other players performing better?
  9. If you have a late 1st round pick, you should always go for the high upside guy. Sox took too many Deven Merrero's.
  10. Interesting points from latest SoxProspects podcast: Kaleb Ort has stuff that could push him into MLB pen this year. Marcus Wilson is less athletic than in 2019. Possibly LF only profile. Fringe bat speed. Worcester plays as a launching pad due to the setup behind homeplate. Some lazy popups have turned into HR’s, notably one of Wilson’s. May bump offensive numbers and pitcher ERA. I’ve also heard that defense across the board has been atrocious in MiLB and that pitchers’ numbers are looking way worse because of it.
  11. It's been 4 days since they've had a win!
  12. @SPChrisHatfield - Injured minor leaguers on the 40-man: Bazardo, Wong, Mata, Houck, Seabold, Potts. - Prospects on 40-man for Rule 5 protection, prob. not ready to come up: Wilson (maybe in a pinch), R. Hernandez, Potts, Rosario, Groome. That's 10 "dead" 40-man spots on minor leaguers. (2/2)
  13. @alexspeier RHP Eduard Bazardo, who left Tuesday's Triple-A Worcester game with an injury, has been diagnosed w/a right lat strain. Thaddeus Ward, who's on the injured list for Double-A Portland, has a right forearm strain. Red Sox are still determining the severity of both injuries.
  14. With pitching, you always have to look at the long term. You might not hit on every one, but you need to keep going.
  15. Who cares about batting average, I want the batting mean!
  16. @SPChrisHatfield This was supposed to be Thaddeus Ward's day, but he's been placed on the IL. The top 4 pitchers in the #SP60 entering spring training (Mata, Houck, Ward, Seabold) are all currently on the IL.
  17. @jimcallisMLB I'll use this as an opportunity to plug @JonathanMayo's mock draft, which will be out tonight. As of now, I think Mayer & Lawlar go in the top 3, leaving the @RedSox looking at some combination of the Vandy RHP & Davis at 4. My best guess w/7 weeks to go is Davis. #DraftTop200 If they have the choice of either Leiter/Rocker or Davis, it'd be gutsy to take Davis IMO. They better hit on it.
  18. So far, he has 3 appearances with 3 IP, 1 H, 1ER, 3 BB, 5 K. Unless he makes a dramatic turn around, he's only getting called up if there's an injury.
  19. I posted elsewhere that he has dealt with bad luck and bad pitch mix. If he stops throwing his slider anywhere near the zone, he'll be fine.
  20. Houck said he feels great. No idea.
  21. Hermann is 33 years old.
  22. Per statcast, his cutter and slider don't break enough anymore so he's leaving them over the heart of the plate. https://baseballsavant.mlb.com/savant-player/eduardo-rodriguez-593958?stats=statcast-r-pitching-mlb The slider seems to be just a "show me" pitch, but it's getting wacked around whenever he tosses it. Dropping the slider and sticking with a FB, Cutter, Change, Sinker mix should be enough. The slider should only be used if he's going to throw it out of the zone.
  23. Anyway, ERod has a 4.70 ERA, but a 3.27 FIP. He's been unlucky. His walk rate has been cut in half. His velo is a little down, but not dramatically. The only issue I'm seeing is that his slider and cutter has been worse this year, but he's throwing those two pitches more. Needs to fix his pitch mix maybe?
