  1. “Job is on the line tonight” - Eck We all hope.
  2. The Yankees are currently the Florida of MLB.
  3. Peralta's k% is bottom 2% in MLB. He leaves his sinker up a lot. He doesn't elevate his 4 seamer. He can leave that slider out on a tee middle/middle. His splitter is decent, but he rarely uses it. He really doesn't get much movement on his pitches. He just leaves everything down in the zone and hopes for the best.
  4. The Cla Meredith Experience.
  5. He was in high A the year before and winds up starting for the Yankees in April. Wild.
  6. @SlangsOnSports Andrew Heaney is the 1st pitcher in Yankees history to allow 4+ HR in his team debut I didn't want any part of the Heaney experience.
  7. How much say do you think the GM has in which Int'l guys to get? I think that comes from the scouts. 2016 - Mata, Castellanos, none of the top guys worked out 2017 - none 2018 - Daniel Flores got a $3M bonus and would probably make you rethink the Int'l signee situation (you going to blame DD for him?), Danny Diaz, Antoni Flores, Bello, Rafaela, Gilberto Jimenez, Aldo Ramirez 2019 - too soon to tell: Eduardo Lopez, Eduardo Vaughn, Bryan Gonzalez, Brainer Bonaci, Winkelman Gonzalez They got one decent guy in 2016. The 2018 class would have been great if Flores didn't pass away. The 2019 class has some guys that are really turning it up right now (Bonaci, Winkelman) and some interesting high ceiling bats in Bryan and the Eduardos. Have Bloom's two IFA seasons been better? Aside from Bleis, none of the guys he signed are in the top 60 on SoxProspects.
  8. Who did Bloom hire that has made a difference? I believe the scouting staff is virtually the same as it was during DD.
  9. With them for sure, but not with their current production level. Also, there have been some key subtractions to the hitting depth.
  10. Really depends on how good the WC team was during the regular season. Sometimes, you'll have a WC team that is clearly the 2nd best team in that league (BOS 2003, 2004).
  11. It's still better than I thought it would be. A slight disadvantage for WC teams seems fair.
  12. Is baseball better now with a lux cap?
  13. Who knows? A higher threshold would be good.
  14. Treading water for 2 weeks is not ideal.
  15. I guess depending on how it lines up? There's still a disadvantage there.
  16. Done. If all teams are given a 25% chance to make the WS (3 division winners, 1 WC winner per league), the WC winner only got in 19% of the time.
  17. Since the Wild Card Game was created: 2012 - Cardinals made it to NLCS 2013 - no WC teams made the Championship round 2014 - both WC winners made it to the WS 2015 - Cubs made the NLCS 2016 - Jays made the ALCS 2017 - Yankees made the ALCS 2018 - no WC teams made the Championship round 2019 - Nats won the WS In 8 years, only 3 WC teams made the WS, with 2 winners.
  18. Wrong. Division winners are 100% in the playoffs. Wild Card teams are only a 50% chance to make the playoffs. Then, after using their best starter in a playoff game, they have to go face the toughest team in their league. Not sure that's an ideal position for any team.
  19. They did horrible with IFA's because they got kneecapped by Ben.
  20. What scouts did Bloom hire? He wasn't allowed to pull anyone from the Rays due to a non compete clause. It's still the same scouting department.
  21. You. We've already determined that it's not the playoffs. It's no longer up for discussion.
  22. The fact that Schwarber isn't ready to go yet is not ideal as well.
  23. Why if you don't even know what the CBA will look like? Why wouldn't he throw his weight around this offseason and get rid of the luxury tax?
  24. Starting pitching is hard to come by. I was hoping for a quality middle reliever. I'm not sure we got one.
