  1. Sox had a need at 1b. It's an easy need to fill. They didn't pull the trigger on any deals. I don't get it. If they falter down the stretch, Bloom will have lots of questions to answer.
  2. Yup. It would make more sense to try him down the home stretch than Cordero IMO.
  3. He improved mildly over the season. We've gone over this already. I think he'll be worse than Dalbec.
  4. Duran hitting .100 is actually very meaningful, but not in a good way.
  5. He needed the reps though. They were hopeful that he could hit. Once he got on the field, it was that much harder to phantom IL him.
  6. They are obviously just trying to skate through this stretch until Arroyo and Schwarber and Marwin are all back. I'm not sure this is something that can work out. s***, I wanted them to call up Ockimey to platoon with Dalbec. That'd be better than just throwing Dalbec to the wolves.
  7. At this point, not having Franchy in against RHP is very questionable. Dalbec has been horrendous. Once a LHP exits the game, Dalbec should ride the bench.
  8. That was after he went to the A's.
  9. Called Franchy up just to try to deal him?
  10. Did you know that Pokey Reese was once traded four times, to four different teams, in less than two months? On December 18, 2001, Reese was traded from the Cincinnati Reds to the Colorado Rockies. The next day, Pokey was traded from the Rocks to the Boston Red Sox for first baseman Scott Hatteberg, but the Sox did not tender him a contract, making him a free agent. On January 30, 2002, he signed with the Pittsburgh Pirates. 2000-2001 was a miserable time. Weren't even smart enough to keep Pokey. Pokey > Rey Sanchez
  11. As I said before: returning to the mean in one run games.
  12. Getting to that 730 OPS any day now............
  13. I thought that the last time he pitched. If the rotation starts to get into September 2011 territory, things will be insufferable around here.
  14. Richards won't go to AAA, he'll take his ball and go home. Sox should have just brought back Porcello.
  15. I'm still DFA Richards. He doesn't pitch better out of the pen. He doesn't provide much value when he starts.
  16. Song could be great and a part of the long term solution in the rotation or he could never throw a professional pitch. Who knows with that guy.
  17. I think if they could have signed Hickey and Fabian that it makes the draft look really good on paper. However, we can see that a high strikeout guy really has to thread the needle to be a productive MLBer. If Fabian is striking out 30% in college, he's going to get embarrassed by the time he gets to AA. Odds are that he's not going to amount to much. In the immortal words of Dee Dee Ramone: "glad to see you go go go go goodbye."
  18. Hansel Robels
  19. They're in first place.
  20. @PeteAbe Anderson Espinoza, the erstwhile Red Sox prospect, was traded to the Cubs for Jake Marisnick. Espinoza never pitched for the Padres after being acquired for Drew Pomeranz. Had TJ twice.
  21. Yanks and Jays are both 8+ games back and made a ton of moves. Enough to get into the playoffs? Maybe not!
  22. He traded away a box of your dad's condoms. Now we're stuck with you.
  23. @JMastrodonato Barring any at-the-buzzer moves, the Red Sox are the only American League contender not to make multiple additions at the MLB trade deadline. By my count: Yankees: 3 Rays: 3 Jays: 2 White Sox: 3 Astros: 3 A's: 4 4:06 PM · Jul
  24. @ChrisCotillo 4:00 is here. Deals can still leak out. Awaiting word from Red Sox...
