  1. Nobody complained about Ottavino at the time he was dealt.
  2. But it still trends to the mean as the % of 1 run game wins would be lowered.
  3. Chavis is too highly valued on BTV. That's a cheat code putting him in.
  4. Seabold debuted in FCL yesterday: It was a rare contest under the lights for the FCL Sox, and the on-field events were worthy of the event. Connor Seabold, out since the start of the season with right elbow inflammation, took the mound in a rehab start against fellow rehabbing hurler Chris Archer. Seabold, currently ranked 6th in the system, went 2 2/3 innings, allowing two runs on one hit. Seven of the eight outs he recorded were via strikeout. Seabold also walked three and hit a batter. In addition: Brainer Bonaci got on base 5 times, Blaze hit a walk off, Winkelman Gonzalez through 5 perfect innings. The DSL Blue Sox won their first game, Juan Chacon hit a lead off triple and walked, Sierra and Salazar went yard.
  5. It was in the 40's for the first month and a half. It went down to like 25% in April. Then it went back up to the 30's in May/June.
  6. This feels like the best draft the Sox have had in a while. I remember people liking the 2018 draft with Casas/Decker/Feltman going 1-2-3. Looks like Ward at 5 and Duran at 7 were good picks too. Nick Northcutt hasn't worked out so far.
  7. @BillKoch25 The numbers beyond his 5.23 ERA in 2021 suggest Wyatt Olds has some serious raw stuff -- 101 K in just 75 2/3 innings. Command appears to be an issue -- 37 BB, 12 WP, 13 HBP. Also allowed 12 HR. #RedSox 7th rounder...
  8. If that's the platoon Bloom envisioned, he's a genius if it works.
  9. Not Red Sox related, but the NE area is killing it this year. @alexspeier Boston College gets its third draftee: 6th rounder Emmet Sheehan, a righty who was the team's best pitcher this year.
  10. Why would you DFA him though?
  11. It doesn't always do that, but we can't expect them to make a comeback every game.
  12. @SoxProspects With the 166th pick of the 2021 draft, the Boston Red Sox have selected utility player Daniel McElveny out of Bonita Vista High School.
  13. https://twitter.com/redsoxstats/status/1414667455574724608 some video of Hickey's swing.
  14. They've been lucky in 1 run games so far. It's just going to return to the mean.
  15. @IanCundall The Red Sox are one of the most active teams in acquiring talent out of Puerto Rico. The Elmer Rodriguez pick makes it 3 straight years & 8/9 that the Red Sox have drafted or signed an UDFA from PR. Last year, they signed two UDFA & in 2019 they selected SS Matthew Lugo in 2nd rd
  16. Some scouts are projecting Hickey to move off position a la Kyle Schwarber.
  17. @alexspeier Red Sox in the fifth round select their second University of Florida player of the day, catcher Nathan Hickey. The lefthanded hitter had a .317/.435/.522 line with nine homers and more walks (42) than strikeouts (40) this year.
  18. That's just depressing.
  19. @BaseballAmerica Red Sox draft pick Elmer Rodriguez is the first non-BA 500 prospect selected.
  20. @alexspeier In the fourth round, the Red Sox take 17-year-old pitcher Elmer Rodriguez out of Puerto Rico. At a Perfect Game event, he was up to 94 mph. His size (6-foot-4 but just 165 pounds) suggests projectable stuff as he adds size/strength.
  21. According to MLB, he's 6'3" and 160 lbs.
  22. Cruz is a 6'4" tall skinny Oregon commit. Can hit 94. Projectable frame. Already a 3 pitch pitcher (FB, CB, CHG).
  23. @MLBDraftTracker 4 (105): @RedSox select Leadership Christian Academy P Elmer Rodriguez-Cruz.
