    Santana has a long track record of not being very good. Renfroe had a few good years in SD and then sucked last year. I’d bet on Renfroe. At the minimum, he’s a good platoon bat against LHP.

    No. It’s a long season. Not every game is the 7th game of the WS. Andriese should be able to get outs. He’s on the roster for a reason. Bloom can take him off if he stinks.

    Speier is saying that a callup is not imminent. The Sox just wanted the flexibility to make a move if they wanted to.

    Jarren Duran will not be on the Olympics squad. The Sox wanted the option to call him up if need be and the logistics of adding him closer to the games would have been tough for the Olympic team due to visa requirements and other nonsense. Sox were ok with him going, but wanted the option to pull him back. USOC said no.
