It's JD's worst full offensive season since 2013. However, he still has the 3rd highest OPS and 4th in WRC+ for Sox regulars. His down season is still preferable to have in the lineup. The real question is that with two bad ankles, could he even play the OF at any point? If not, that really limits how he can help the team going forward.

That's why it's not truly Tampa Rays North. Bloom can do Tampa things, but is still able to bury some large dead contracts if he needs to. Tampa can't.

Ray signed for 1yr/8M. Seems better than what the Sox gave to Richards and the Yanks gave to Kuber.

Ray had a career low walk rate and BABIP. I wouldn't prioritize re-signing Ray on a large contract.

Interesting that his best offensive numbers this year were in July and August when he was in and out of the lineup with the hip issue. Maybe just a SSS thing. Sept/Oct was his worst stretch this year by far. What is the long term prognosis for him after surgery?

Need to see if this is a one year aberration due to injury or if this is what he is going forward. If he is just a 4 win guy, he's probably not a max contract. Kiké was a 4 fWAR guy this year. I'm not sure anyone would want to pay him $30M.

What they were experiencing was the RECENCY EFFECT where they just forgot that the Sox are a good franchise who can turn it around quickly.

Rafael Devers was the only major leaguer with 100+ RBI and 100+ runs scored in both 2019 and 2021. 2019 (156 games): 32 HR, 115 RBI, 129 R 2021 (156 games): 38 HR, 113 RBI, 101 R How about extending this guy?
