  1. What they were experiencing was the RECENCY EFFECT where they just forgot that the Sox are a good franchise who can turn it around quickly.
  2. Rafael Devers was the only major leaguer with 100+ RBI and 100+ runs scored in both 2019 and 2021. 2019 (156 games): 32 HR, 115 RBI, 129 R 2021 (156 games): 38 HR, 113 RBI, 101 R How about extending this guy?
  3. The road to the WS could be: Beat your arch rival Beat the ******* no-name Rays whose stadium is filled up by your own fans Beat the cheating no-good Astros Beat those dirty Dodgers who are buying titles (5 of the 6 highest team payrolls ever are LAD)
  4. People have been saying that for the past few years now. The Jays seem to always win the offseason and trade deadline, but have little to show for it.
  5. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=liL72th6fVg Pitching Ninja on Pivetta's knee buckler.
  6. Tito is in a tier all of his own. They should have never let him go. They let him leave because he "lost the team." Well, that team wasn't found the next season. They just had to churn over the roster. Tito would have won in 2013 for sure. He would have won in 2018 if he never left his office.
  7. Who was the last Sox manager to have any fire aside from Bobby? Not Jimy Williams. Maybe Kevin Kennedy?
  8. He was just working on getting back from an injury to the other ankle too. He was using orthotics on his right ankle to help stabilize his swing. He's now the Billy Buckner of 2021 (in terms of being hobbled).
  9. Pete Abraham: Kicking around some Red Sox roster ideas. They can do without a few relievers for one game. Could use an extra infielder with Iglesias ineligible. Maybe bring Duran back to pinch run? Would they want a third catcher? Martinez’s status is a factor. The one-game thing is weird. Sale doesn’t need to be on the roster. Maybe you drop Rodriguez because he pitched yesterday and would start Thursday if they win. Lots of ways to get creative. Arroyo hasn’t played 9 innings since 8-26. Given his injury issues, they’ll need an INF. Don’t be surprised if somebody out of the blue like Arauz ends up active. They really need to keep Hernández in center. Dalbec taking grounders at 2B lately seems more like a “break glass in case of emergency” thing than something they’d want to do. It’ll be interesting. Roster construction could look pretty interesting. I think Arauz and Duran make sense. Plawecki can swing the bat fairly well as a backup, so I'm not sure you'd need the 3rd catcher. Probably not have Sale/ERod active and load up on bench bats. Now that you have the 3 batter rule, it doesn't make too much sense to have 13 relievers.
  10. The last manager we had with fire was Bobby V. FranCOMA, Farrell (boring) and Cora are the only managers we ever had to bring home a title. None of those guys are Earl Weaver types. Maybe that kind of manager just doesn't work anymore.
  11. There's nothing to "own up" for.
  12. People have a right to be angry if they get swept at home by the Yankees (when they could have wrapped up the season) and then struggled vs the O's and showed very little fight.
  13. Eovaldi's starts against NYY this season: 6/04 6 IP, 1 ER, 7k, 0bb 6/26 7.2 IP, 1 ER, 6k, 0bb 7/17 5 IP, 1 ER, 7 k, 1 bb 7/24 7.2 IP, 2 ER, 8 k, 0 bb 8/17 5 IP, 2 ER, 6 k, 1 bb 9/24 2.2 IP, 7 ER, 0 k, 2 bb I'm not sure I'd have much to complain about if he repeated any of his first 5 starts this year vs the NYY.
  14. Even when you include his last horrible start, Eovaldi has a 81 tOPS+, 1.102 WHIP, 5.91 k/bb vs the Yankees.
  15. Herding cats that don't really like each other.
  16. https://www.fangraphs.com/standings/playoff-odds-graphs?lg=AL&div=E&stat=poff&year=2021 When a team goes from 98% playoff odds on 9/23 to 60% a week later, I think you can give a pass to posters complaining that the teams was sucking. In fact, they played like dogshit against the Yanks and struggled against the worst team in their division.
  17. But he got everything exactly right for the past 5 years?!?!? He told us so!

  19. How about $8,600 for a card that was printed 10 years ago? https://www.ebay.com/itm/384421041381?hash=item59814794e5:g:GIwAAOSwl4dhVeF5
  20. Brad Peacock 0-1. Kutter Crawford 0-1.
  21. Why do you think you are owed contritions (which isn't even a word)?
  22. It's hard not to, right? Also, tone and word policing is dumb.
  23. Same thing.
  24. @GlobeChadFinn Sox-Yankees wild card game airs on ESPN at 8 p.m. Tuesday, so … A-Rod. There will be an alternate Statcast-driven broadcast on ESPN2 with @jasonbenetti, @PerezEd, and @mike_petriello on the call. Choose your fighter...
