  1. It's the time of the year where we can all look sideways at a few Steamer calculations. I don't know how they come up with the defensive valuations, but they were way off last year too. Steamer was really down on the '25 Sox, but they were 10th overall in fWAR at the end of the year. They project every fulltime or near fulltime Sox player to regress in '26. '26 questionable calls: Duran 2.5 fWAR Rafaela 2.4 fWAR (even though his wRC+ increases to 95???) Story 1.3 fWAR (with 100 games played) Wilyer 1.7 fWAR (99 games played and career average wRC+)
  2. He'll be turning 27 and we've seen a lot of mid rotation stuff from him over the past 3.5 years. I don't think he ever becomes anything more than a #3. If they move him, he's not a guy that all of a sudden is in the CY conversation. 23-25 (200+ innings) 58th fWAR 127th k/9 112th bb/9 147th hr/9 84th ERA 83rd xFIP Good, but not great pitcher. If you're using him to get a #2 starter or a true middle of the order bat, you should do it.
  3. If they sign Alonso, Casas isn't getting the first shot.
  4. Giolito helped get him to the playoffs in year 2. If Brezzz is really spending near the 2nd line this offseason, it shows that JH is happy about getting to the playoffs. Part of the reason Bloom was fired was inaction at the deadline and several years of missed playoffs. I think October baseball helps JH's self esteem.
  5. He'll have more fWAR in one season than Pablo Sandoval did for his entire BOS career.
  6. Cease's numbers are worse, but you think he's a 2?
  7. I could see a world where Hicks is traded and the other team takes on some of the contract. Masa? They are stuck with him until DFA'd or '27 trade deadline when nothing is left on the deal.
  8. I don't have a problem with the rentals. Signing guys to rehab hasn't worked out so far (Paxton, Fulmer, Hendriks).
  9. Gausman and Gray seemed like two good adds that the Sox whiffed on to bring in lesser pitchers.
  10. Is he able to throw to first?
  11. We already had to hold our noses for Chapman. Valdez would be a bit much.
  12. I think adding Gray automatically puts them closer to the second line than they probably wanted to go, but I think they were happy with the lower level prospect cost they had to give up.
  13. They'll spend more, but I think adding Alonso AND Bregman seems unlikely. If anything it'd be a Marte trade and Breggie or Okamoto signing and Breggie. Having a second piece that is significantly cheaper than Alonso will give them flexibility to make a move at the deadline if they want to.
  14. First, no other GM is going to go for one of the moon trades. Second, I'm usually right. 😎
  15. If MIL can't afford it, don't offer a QO. IDK, they were a playoff team last season, were media darlings for a while and made extra money because of it. Their attendance was 12th highest in baseball as well. If they are looking to cut salary, they need a new owner. Payroll was only 18th in MLB.
  16. As the spokesperson for the website, let's try to get along today everybody. None of this is that important to get huffy about. 🫂
  17. "Dependable arm" vs "significant amount of time on the IL."
  18. They are at 220M now. Adding those 3 definitely gets them to 280.
  19. Not sure he's a good replacement for Refsnyder as he doesn't carry a huge split LH vs RH. We already know Ref can OPS 900 vs LHP. Campbell has a long way to go to get there for a whole season.
  20. Gray had better IP, k/9, bb/9, ERA, FIP, xFIP than Cease in '25. Why be so down on Gray and high on Cease?
  21. What fanbase speaks highly of their training and medical staff?
  22. It's not even December yet. There are no reports of him having anxiety. If we are only worried about control, we'd never trade any prospects. Clarke has the same strike throwing percentage as Hicks and Mata. Fitts was a backend starter at best and took zero steps forward last season while other guys took leaps.
  23. What if you only have to take on 1/2?
  24. He's been worth it to the Padres the first 3 seasons according to the FanGraphs formula. Probably won't continue to be that way at some point.
