  1. We are not destined to lose, but it seems more likely when the team is not playing well.
  2. I distinctly remember it being the moonslav59 Affect when I was growing up...
  3. In a post about no hit/great glove guys, you put Nick Castellanos, Avisail Garcia, Conforto, Blackmon, Calhoun and Jorge Soler in there... Don't just put a bunch of random players in a list THAT DON'T FIT THE PROFILE. C'mon man.
  4. Did he not K 4 times on Sunday? If I make a statement and you say "well you're wrong." It's up to you to prove me wrong. You haven't. I prefer a guy who puts the ball in play. I'm not sure why you think that's such a controversial statement. It definitely has more sound reasoning that some of the stuff you've put out there before.
  5. I'm not sure what to expect. I think we need to temper expectations for him going forward. He's 32 and hasn't pitched 160 Innings since 2017. Will he return to the ace we saw 3-4 years ago? Hard to say.
  6. Maybe? Time will tell. I'm hopeful for Dalbec and want to keep him around. Past 5 games: 0 BB%, 61.5 K%, 385 OPS, -14 WRC+
  7. Ones that are cheap and available in FA, sure.
  8. What fixation? This is the first time I've mentioned bringing him back.
  9. I'd rather have Duran on the roster than Marisnick. There's no upside there with Marisnick.
  10. Like who? Who would you bring in instead. I thought JBJ would be a good, cheap PR move and he helps with the defensive issues the Sox have.
  11. The recency effect is "they got swept by the Yankees, I hope they play better against the O's." If they then s*** the bed against the O's, it's not "recency effect" it's "the team is NOT playing well. This team has had wild swing going up and down. Right now they are on a downturn until they play better. Could they turn it around? Yes. Will they? Very uncertain. However, there are signs that this team is NOT built to win in the playoffs: rotation question marks, no closer, bad defense.
  12. You asked and I made a case. You don't have to agree with it.
  13. I think you're just being obstinate.
  14. I asked for proof and wasn't given any. For all OF positions combined, this season was his second best year of UZR/150.
  15. Marisnick has not been good this year. I'd rather have JBJ at $4M. Again, JBJ isn't a savior. He'd just help shore up the defense that you've been clamoring for.
  16. Diplan was hittable. Krehbiel (from the Rays) looked really good. I liked what I saw from him. Sulser, I didn't watch.
  17. Sure thing. Swept the A's Swept the Yankees in a 4 game series Took 3 of 4 at Orioles Played .500 vs the Rays in 2 series Went 4-3 against the Twins Lost 1 game to the Yankees I'd say that looks better than what the Sox have done in September.
  18. I thought it was a team option. It's a player option. Maybe the Brewers would eat half his salary in a deal?
  19. So Dalbec k'ing 4 times is as good as a player putting the ball in play 4 times? How many GIDP's do you think are avoided by Dalbec k'ing badly?
  20. Renfroe/Verdugo in LF.
  21. And I'm confused about JBJ's defense slipping. According to UZR/150, he's doing just fine: https://www.fangraphs.com/players/jackie-bradley-jr/12984/stats?position=OF CF 12.1 (highest since 2014) RF 30.9 LF 22.9 All those numbers seem good? Where's the slippage?
  22. I think JBJ's contract next year should be pretty cheap. I think JBJ would be a better fit in RF than Marisnick. I don't see other options that are all that interesting. Maybe they are happy with Renfroe in RF? I like his arm, but his errors leave a lot to be desired.
  23. TBH, Dalbec is just a placeholder for Casas. Arroyo is a placeholder for Downs/Yorke. The biggest IF acquisition they should make this offseason is for a defensive upgrade at Catcher. I think the positional roster is pretty much set. I doubt Xander is traded and I doubt JD opts out. We'll see much more movement on the pitching side of things.
  24. The WooSox also named Yairo Munoz their team MVP, and Raynel Espinal was named their pitcher of the year, via Joe McDonald. Munoz hit .317 with a .902 OPS in 85 games, while Espinal went 11-4 with a 3.55 ERA.
