  1. This makes more sense than 1/10.
  2. There was a legit chance that they were going to non tender Renfroe at 7.6M. Instead of non tendering him, they moved him for JBJ and got two decent MiLB prospects. Seems ok? I wasn't high on Renfroe to begin with so it just doesn't move the meter for me. It's a weird deal, but I'm not going to get upset over it. Things like RBI are fickle because it depends on players around you. Renfroe is fine, but he's not really a lynchpin for this team.
  3. If the trade really just swaps Arroyo for JBJ, I'm not sure I'm all that concerned.
  4. We talked about the OF all last offseason and we never figured out where we'd end up. We may have the same confusion this year. Just don't sign Marwin.
  5. Where were all the Hunter Renfroe stans when he was OPSing 485 on 5/1 last year?
  6. Yes. They like those players, but not for that length of time.
  7. Maybe they don't like those players?
  8. BTV: Renfroe 1.6 Binelas 4.9 (approximates Winckowski value) Hamilton 5.4 (in between Winckowski and Mata value) JBJ -12.8 Moderate overpay Although one side of this trade is giving up more than they should, there is still a reasonable probability it would be accepted if each team’s needs are met.
  9. JBJ was always streaky and there is a chance that the slump doesn't go away at some point.
  10. I agree. There is a lot of talk in the media that another move is coming and that JBJ is a 4th OFer. He's an expensive OFer one at that, but if the Sox are unconcerned about the luxury tax then we shouldn't be either.
  11. That's great! We have more time to discuss trading JBJ!
  12. Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic broached this topic in a recent column. While he stopped short of reporting any substantive news, the insider did provide some reasons to believe that Bogaerts could be traded. Let’s break it down quickly. The six-year, $120 million extension Bogaerts signed last year included a full no-trade clause once the two-time All-Star reaches seven years of service time. That comes on Sept. 6, one week after the trade deadline.
  13. Hunter wasn't worth 7M in 2020, but now two years later he's worth it?
  14. Perfectly balanced as all things should be.
  15. Going to wait for him to go super saiyan again in 2022.
  16. The Sox really know how to run things back.
  17. Duran would be fine as a LF. Verdugo had a negative UZR in LF last season.
  18. JBJ also had a sub 600 OPS as a 24 year old. The next year it went up to 833 the following year. Duran has the talent to get there.
  19. Adding the two prospects is a big win for Bloom. Prior to 2021, most of us would have been more comfortable having JBJ in the OF than Renfroe. Renfroe had a good year, but his strong arm bailed out his poor defense. He had some good highlight plays, but had even more lowlight plays. I'm not sure JBJ is much of a downgrade from Renfroe going forward.
  20. Like I've said before, it's about strengthening players 20-40 on the roster. Bloom will do his best to not have to put guys like Brad Peacock out there. I think an OF of Duran/Verdugo LF, Kiké CF and JBJ RF is very interesting. I think one of Duran and Verdugo is traded.
