  1. Most likely to complain Power Rankings: Duran Casas S Gray Bello
  2. And '22-'24 didn't really feel like an investment. '25 felt like a step in the right direction, but trading away the franchise player (and largest contract) certainly gives me pause.
  3. I think their valuation has been up for debate ever since they signed Masa and it fell flat. Those scouts are still onboard FWIW.
  4. They went from being great owners to mediocre ones. Yay...
  5. It would include charity donations. It's still an expense and isn't interest/taxes/depreciation/amortization. I mean, are you worried about their actual tax return now? They still make a f-ton on their investment and always have. They are just choosing to spend less than ever (comparatively) while making more than ever as fans are spending more than ever. They also didn't win any of those 4 WS titles while being outside the top 10 in salary. Limiting their spending artificially is just bad on-field business TBH. If they don't want to win, that's fine. Just don't point at those 4 flags and say "well they know how to do that so let's trust them to keep doing that." They got those rings by spending!
  6. They don't have Devers for half the season. Uncertainty for health of various players. Regression from Chapman.
  7. To the Sox, yes. He doesn't seem to have high value across the league.
  8. You can say the same thing about many of the Breslow deals (Crochet, Chapman, Narvaez). The only deal that was telegraphed was Bregman and that was because others in the FO really wanted him and Breslow wasn't on board. He runs a tight ship and has a small circle that doesn't leak anything. If stories are getting out about particular trades, you have to believe it's coming from the other team and may not be anything the Sox are serious about.
  9. I hardly feel sorry for billionaires, but have you considered EBITDA? The baseball revenue that is included in the 574M (or whatever) is just BASEBALL related. It doesn't include all the tangential real estate revenue surrounding the ballpark or anything related to NESN. They are rolling in it. The Sox having the 3rd most revenue every year, but continuously spending outside the top 10 is embarrassing.
  10. Just depends on how significant they are. Signing Justin Wilson? Not sure I'm adjusting the win total, but it's probably a good move.
  11. If they re-sign Breggie: 90 wins If they do trades or other moves, it would change my projections plus or minus a few wins.
  12. 84 wins if no other moves are made.
  13. I guess Masa will be a 162 guy in '26 then. It's not like Cora has ever benched him before for long stretches for seemingly no reason!
  14. Oh I'm sure THAT is what it is!
  15. Sox dev may help Eyanson's stuff pop this year too. He may have not looked spectacular in college, but neither did Early.
  16. Breslow didn't necessarily target Witherspoon or Eyanson, they just kind of fell in the draft and he snagged them. I don't think they were his ideal draftees, but they were great value for where they were both picked.
  17. Not a very good one it seems.
  18. Luxury tax calc resets after the trade and it would probably be 18.5M.
  19. Replacing Masa with a healthy Casas and eating most of Masa's salary seems fine to me.
  20. It's not misleading. Just run the positional splits yourself. Divide the 2025 DHs in half. It's still more than 2005. You stated there was a trend towards less fulltime DHs, but I can't find the evidence.
  21. Do they want to win by having the best roster possible, or just the best roster within a set CBT limit? We all know how much revenue they bring in every year.
  22. I don't understand the framing of "the league is heading towards more rotational DHs." If you go back 20 years, there are MORE fulltime DHs in 2025 than in 2005.
  23. I'd rather have Hicks and Masa than Arenado.
