  1. I mean, they didn't go all in last year. They just obtained Schwarber and Robles/Davis. We wanted more. Many people wanted them to either be all in on a sale or a buy this year, but they seemed to again just kinda toe the line which was the ever present third option.
  2. It's so you don't have to play Jaylin Davis and he was acquired for a PTBNL AND you spent all of the past few days bitching about the Sox not having OFers. Now he gets and OFer and you still complain? Seems like it doesn't matter whether or not he does make a move?
  3. Vazquez is leaving at the end of the year. If they want to bring him back, they can just re-sign him. Valdez is 23 and in AAA with an OPS of 907. He is 13 months older than Casas, not some washed up retread. Abreu is 23 and in AA and is the lesser prospect, but fills an organizational hole at OF. What 25 year old in AA are we talking about? "It's not about the prospects it's about dealing your #1 C at cheap money." Yeah, that's why you can deal him at the deadline. If he wasn't a #1, nobody would want him. If he was expensive, nobody would want him. He has value because he's cheap and pretty good. You complain about Bloom NOT making changes, but then complain when he does make changes. It makes no sense.
  4. Chapman is right there.
  5. It's a warm, tender embrace.
  6. notin is in fourth place in the TalkSox fantasy league after having a spat about "actually" being in first place and stating that he'd be in first place at the very end anyway.
  7. The problem is that there is a certain segment on here that just complains about everything no matter what. If Bloom didn't trade Vazquez they'd be jumping up and down about Bloom doing nothing yesterday. That he was able to turn an expiring deal into two upper level prospects seems fine to me. The worry was that it would be A ball guys, but it was AA/AAA guys so that argument goes away. Bloom even got a replacement for Vazquez, but dumping the second worst contract in the bullpen. Furthermore, just to stop the bleeding in the OF, which many people were outraged over yesterday, they got Tommy Pham for a PTBNL or cash considerations. Is Pham a great player? No. Does he have a higher fWAR than any current Sox OFer? Yes. Are people still complaining about this move that only cost a f***ing PTBNL? Yes. Why? IDK.
  8. Seems like someone is a little crabby for being in 4th place now…
  9. It was a horrible trade. However, you stated they has to cover for injured Kiké, but Renfroe missed a lot of time too.
  10. Scherff
  11. If Bloom was unable to unload the full Diekman contract, I’m happy.
  12. Complain when he doesn’t make moves. Complain when he does make moves. Got it.
  13. Pham isn’t great, but he’ll be an upgrade from one of the guys they are playing every night right now.
  14. Prior to the season.
  15. No jokes, sir. This is a serious business.
  16. He was only charged with disorderly conduct. Guess it wasn’t a big deal after all.
  17. That shrubbery…
  18. I’m sure they’ll beat it to death.
  19. Really hard to defend.
  20. Here's the return for Christian Vazquez: Enmanuel Valdez has played 1B/2B/3B/LF/RF and is hitting .327/.410/.606 w/21 HR in 378 PA across AA and AAA. Wilyer Abreu has played all three OF spots and is hitting .249/.399/.459 with 15 HR and 23 SB in 411 PA in AA.
  21. The catcher they traded for was arrested for public masterbation.
  22. Dumped Diekman for him.
  23. You're right, I just looked at the game log. He only started one more game after that. It can't be due to punishment because they've let Kutter become a starter.
  24. It just seems like the plan the past 3 years has been kinda "we'll figure it out as we go." 2020: Starting rotation includes Weber and a bullpen day. That bullpen. 2021: Original plan was Kiké at 2b. Cordero getting a lot of run early in the season for some reason. Uncertainty at 1b. 2022: Continued uncertainty at 1b with a backup of Travis Shaw. OF was very LHB heavy and the only idea was to platoon Arroyo out there. Starting rotation of the walking wounded. Another bullpen hodgepodge (Barnes was a known concern at this point, Diekman "replaced" Ottavino, no defined role for Houck/Whitlock, Taylor injury). I will say that a lot of us wanted Jose Iglesias as a bench bat and that would have been the right call over Arroyo in retrospect.
