  1. The team still had a lot of talented players. The issue is that as the players aged, it was harder to keep them all healthy AND/OR productive (see 2022). Sox got some health luck and the bullpen pitched well. Barnes was lights out for 1/2 the year a la Buchholz in 2013. Team got hot again at the right time towards the end of the season.
  2. I'm all for Xander moving to LF.
  3. I think it just means that they can sign some guys to short term contracts for high dollar amounts and stay competitive before the young guys show up.
  4. C - There is a question of if they will drop RHern from the 40 man and add Stephen Scott even though he's not ready for MLB action. He could be a Vogt type who splits between C/1b/LF/DH. 1B - I think Casas is set for the next 6 years unless the injury issues keep creeping up. Blaze is kind of interesting, but could also just be trade bait. 2B - Yorke can stick at 2b, but his season was so disappointing and his injury concerns make him a lottery ticket that may not be worth waiting on. However, you can just put Bonaci, Paulino, Romero, Lugo or a few other guys here. SS - Seems to be Mayer's spot to lose? I don't see why they'd trade him. 3B - Binelas was terrible. Lugo has a chance to be a backup, but I'm not sure how much more. I don't think Blaze has the glove for 3b. They should just lock Devers up. OF - Rafaela and Bleis are far and away their best OF prospects. Maybe they move Blaze to LF? Roman Anthony should be good, but we'll see.
  5. moon just itching to make a CLIFF...
  6. I'm not a fan of what Abreu did last season.
  7. Yup.
  8. I get it. They are part of the same FA class. I just thing the top tier guys tend to make a premium that doesn't trickle down to the other tiers. I think Correa and Turner just have certain qualities that keep them much more valuable than Bogey. Maybe someone overpays for Xander? If I'm the Sox, I figure out what I want to pay and don't go over it. It's just how they have to manage their business. 200/7 is about as high as I could go for Bogey due to age and defensive issues plus drop in power last season.
  9. 2019 was part of the window. The Sox just weren't very good that year. It was still basically the same team as 2018.
  10. On Joey Gallo: Fenway would be the WORST park for his swing Gallo's wOBA in 2021 and 2022 with no shift was WORSE that with a shift Even though he gets a good jump and has a strong arm, he still had a 0 OAA in RF in 2022 and a -3 OAA in LF in 2022
  11. It only said the Rays are looking to make several trades prior to Tuesdays protection deadline. No specifics were mentioned.
  12. I'm not sure the two players are comparable. Correa is younger and better defensively. Bogey should be making much less than Correa.
  13. The tough part is that the Sox will be better off building via trades rather than FA this offseason. It's just not a good class this year. They have extra money, but nothing to really spend it on.
  14. Well, they are on the cusp of WS titles, the Sox are not. If your are constantly in playoff contention, why not just stay over the tax line?
  15. Sounds good to me.
  16. Now, THAT is a lot of IL time.
  17. Are you not concerned about Laureano's offensive slippage after his PED suspension?
  18. I'd sign Nimmo for that deal, but I think the Mets are going to pay him MUCH more than that.
  19. Beni - LF Kiké - CF Verdugo - RF Refsnyder - platoon, 4th OFer Maybe they move Kiké to SS and grab walking IL machine Keirmaier? I think it's more likely that they end up trading for a RFer that none of us could pull out of a hat.
  20. Option B > Option A
  21. It’d be the worst.
  22. Low
  23. It will be his legacy here. If it's a lost offseason, he's out.
  24. Maybe if we were going to talk about Eisenreich...
  25. Nobody was lining up to take him on. The only team looking into dealing for him for the past few years was the Sox from what I remember.
