  1. Andrew Heaney: Exit Velo: bottom 2% in 2022 Hard Hit %: bottom 1% in 2022 He gets a lot of k's, but gets hit hard and gets injured. Not a recipe for success in my book.
  2. The world is testing my patience this week, that's why...
  3. Even just to get a bullpen regular or utility player would be an absolute win. You don't have to come away with Whitlock.
  4. https://www.mlb.com/news/2022-all-arizona-fall-league-team?t=arizona-fall-league-coverage Stephen Scott made the All AFL Team. C: Stephen Scott, Scottsdale (unranked among BOS Top 30) The 2019 10th-rounder out of Vanderbilt made the full-time move back to catcher this season, so you might have expected there to be a heavier emphasis on his defense with the Scorpions. Instead, he showed he can swing it a bit too with a .298/.394/.614 line over 15 games. Five of his seven extra-base hits left the yard, putting him in a five-way tie for third on the AFL HR leaderboard. That’s a solid showing for a player who went deep 10 times in 96 games at High-A and Double-A during the regular season.
  5. The Red Sox are exploring the pitching market early, putting out feelers on both starters and relievers. Two starters they are poking around on early, according to sources, are right-hander Seth Lugo and lefty Andrew Heaney. C'mon, man!
  6. I think that says more about the state of the system than anything else. I see more value in him on the 40 man than Reed or Ort.
  7. How I'm feeling about buying mlb.tv for 2023.
  8. I think you scared him off the site.
  9. I don't see them protecting Abreu. He was ok in Portland but absolutely pathetic in the AFL. Abreu, meanwhile, batted just .167/.275/.204 with two doubles and 10 RBIs in 17 games. If they think he has a shot of playing in BOS this year, maybe they find a spot? They did make room for Rossario and Potts for way too long.
  10. $$$ Sox have $90M+ to spend.
  11. https://www.baseball-reference.com/register/player.fcgi?id=senga-000kod Haven't seen much discussion about Koudai Senga on here. Is it because the Sox were out early on Suzuki last year?
  12. The worst....
  13. He's an interesting guy. My guess is that there are guys left unprotected on other teams that are better than Wallace.
  14. “We don't make mistakes, just happy little accidents.” ― Bob Ross
  15. Valdez was already added to the 40 man. @brendan_camp #RedSox officially add Enmanuel Valdez to 40-man roster, activate 5 players from 60-day injured list
  16. Telling what? Please compare what he said on the podcast vs this tweet. I'll hang up and listen...
  17. I think protecting Rafaela/Walter/Ward/Murphy makes sense. I wouldn't protect Abreu. I would think about protecting Wikelman, but wonder if he's too far way. I'm not sure I'd protect any guy whose ceiling is middle reliever like Fernandez or Wallace. Jimenez and Feltman are close to post prospect phase. Not sure I'd be worried if Koss or Hamilton were selected.
  18. Chris Hatfield mentioned it on the last podcast. @SPChrisHatfield My thoughts for Tuesday. Certain: Rafaela Near-certain: Walter Probable: Ward Likely: Murphy Toss-ups: W. Gonzalez, Abreu Prob too far away: Paulino May get picked, not protected: Politi Of note: Fernandez, Wallace, Bonaci, Scott, Feltman, Koss, Hamilton, Jimenez, V. Santos

  20. A happy accident.
  21. I like Bogaerts. I think the Red Sox need to retain their own players. Nimmo is going to cost a lot more than people are suggesting on here.
  22. I think he'd be a really good defensive OFer.
  23. I don't think they would. They probably would want another year of seasoning at least. He's only been catching fulltime for one year.
  24. "Would be selected" vs "could be selected." Would be for sure? No. Could be maybe? Yes. I think the Sox just need to decide which guy they want to keep on the 40 man. Seems like Hernandez didn't provide all that much upside last season and his defense still stinks. At least Scott has the versatility to play multiple positions.
