  1. Wrong.
  2. I was agreeing with you not disputing with what you said. Not every quote has to be a disagreement!
  3. 2020 is a throwaway year. Prior to 2022: Bogaerts fWAR 28.1 Swanson fWAR 9.8 Yeah, Swanson was nothing special prior to 2022. I'll stick with that assessment.
  4. And yet Swanson's contract is going to be too high for what his actual value will be going forward. I just don't see it with him.
  5. McGriff has fairly similar JAWS to Tony Perez. He wasn't a slam dunk candidate, but he's better than Mattingly.
  6. The whole voting process itself is more about (lower p) politics of the BBWAA than anything else. The veterans committees have been voting in undeserved candidates since the Hall was opened. There are so many players that got in because of who they were friends with or because of some dumb radio jingle that a lot of the Hall is one big eye roll. The surprising thing is that anyone is still surprised about it.
  7. And neither does the HOF, really. It's a completely different entity that sold a made up history about the game for a long time.
  8. Clemens and Bonds are more deserving. I'd even have Rose go in before Schilling. He's at least shown some contrition for a scumbag.
  9. Swanson is a better defender, but his bat is much worse.
  10. Swanson fWAR since age 25: 19 2.0 20 2.3 21 3.4 22 6.4 Bogey (1 year older) 19 5.9 20 1.6 21 4.4 22 6.1 Swanson has had one great season, but was nothing special before then. To expect him to do that year in and year out going forward is wishful thinking. Good for him that he did that in his contract year. Steamer 23: Bogey 4.5 Swanson 3.2
  11. In fact, Curt Schilling is NOT a Hall of Famer and has said he doesn't want to be voted in!
  12. Rafaela is also done for the winter.
  13. @SPChrisHatfield I'm told that Franklin German has completed his time playing in the Dominican. 13 G, 14.1 IP, 12 H, 3 R, 4 BB, 15 K. Solid winter. For our no. 25 prospect.
  14. Devers: JUL 22 987 OPS AUG 22 515 OPS SEP/OCT 22 901 OPS He had more RBI in SEP/OCT than any other month and 2nd best batting average as well.
  15. Why are you attacking Red Sox legend Allen Craig?
  16. No, but you can't slide back on offense and hope the pitching improves by some miracle. Every hole needs to be filled.
  17. I could see it. Both options have been mentioned. Plus, with Kiermaier going out for his usual 40-50 games at some point, it could give Rafaela a little bit of a taste.
  18. Any GM that gives Bellinger a multi-year deal needs to be committed.
  19. Until it wasn't.
  20. You can blame him for the return.
  21. 3 Peraza 23 JD 11 JBJ 6 Perez 40M 30 Sale (YUCK) 13 Pedroia (DOUBLE YUCK) 80M in toilet water.
  22. DRS 21 -7 DRS 22 9 OAA 21 3 OAA 22 20 His defensive performance has been all over the place and I can't proclaim him a great defender going forward just because he had a great season last year. I would expect the roller coaster to continue especially as he gets into his 30's.
  23. League-average is NOT plus range though? That's still average!
  24. Some evaluators think he can stick at short, while others think he profiles best at second base long-term.
  25. I'd be a wonderful GM though. I'd just rather sit at home every night and hang out on my couch with my wife than be forced to hang out with dracula John Henry and that muppet Tom Werner (what did he know and when did he know it?). Yuck!
