  1. What are Senga's leadership qualities?
  2. He should change it to: "I really believe that you win with star players, but you build a bullpen around them."
  3. The only way they bring Xander back is if it's 28 to Xander, a SP for 15 or less and the rest are el cheapos.
  4. "As well as innings" precludes Heaney IMO.
  5. That's how the FA market works. We knew that the market was limited and the Sox had a lot of holes to fill. If they are going to stick with value plays (like waiting out the Story market), they will mostly be outbid during the offseason. DD isn't running the show anymore. It's not surprising. Should they have spent 22% of their offseason budget on a 1b/DH? That wouldn't make sense to me. By what metric is Estevez ranked better than Martin? He has half the career fWAR in MORE innings. Nearly 3x the bb rate. Higher ERA and xFIP. Worse GB%. Worse LOB%
  6. That's also probably why Turner chose the Phillies. He just wants to play SS.
  7. And not the moves the FO is looking at doing apparently. We're much more fun.
  8. JD can be replaced, but we don't know what the replacement for Xander will be. Hopefully it's a guy with an Aruban passport.
  9. He's kept them competitive and ownership hasn't allowed them to push it up to the next level.
  10. And Beni's on-field value was greater than what he was paid. The return so far hasn't provided much. Maybe Winckowski can leverage his arm into a better relief role?
  11. Casas is the best 1b since Moreland. That's not saying much, but Casas should be ok over there. He's definitely an upgrade over Dalbec.
  12. Why is it not a good sign that they were far apart on Abreu? They had a number and Abreu signed with the Astros for much more. I'm glad the Sox didn't extend themselves and overpay. Abreu at 3x45 is a much better deal than 3x60.
  13. Bassitt Kluber Greinke Quintana
  14. If we pay more, they'll be able to keep Devers!!!!!!!!!!!
  15. No, that's for the plants and my coffee. I bathe in the swale.
  16. Cashman has helped the Yankees have an outstanding farm system and remain competitive all without killing the payroll. The sox might like that in the short term.
  17. Speak for yourself. I wash myself monthly.
  18. Do they know the Magic 8 Ball is just a toy?
  19. Agreed. I don't think the Royals looked at 2020 and worried that Beni would have to go back to AAA.
  20. Like my MIL's credit cards.
  21. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. I think FanGraphs gives much more weight to defensive metrics. bWAR is just weird to me though. Correa oWAR 5.2 dWAR 1.1 bWAR 5.4 Turner oWAR 5.0 dWAR 1.0 bWAR 4.9 (Why would it be below 5?) 2022: Correa 5.4 bwar 140 OPS+, 4.4 fWAR 140 wRC+ Turner 4.9 bwar 121 OPS+, 6.3 fWAR 128 wRC+
  22. @jonmorosi The #Angels, #RedSox and #BlueJays are among the teams with interest in Kodai Senga, who is among the top available free-agent starters.
  23. Correa 31.3 fWAR Turner 31.6 fWAR
  24. It wasn't Story's deal, but their inability to extend Xander prior to the season. I think they still wanted to stay under the lux tax cap, but oops'd it. They should have just paid Xander and went over. He probably would have signed some sort of 6/165 at that point.
  25. Statistically they are very close. Correa has the edge in one number that really matters: age.
