  1. "Well, we're only 5 games out of the Wild Card. Maybe we'll just stand pat and see where the season takes us!" And we'd still get some posters that would say "it made sense at the time."
  2. 1 Casas 2 Arroyo 3 Kiké 4 Devers 5 Turner DH/1B/3B 6 Yoshida 7 Verdugo 8 Duvall 9 McGee 10 Wong 11 Chang IF 12 Refsnyder OF 13 Alfaro C/1B/LF
  3. Wong is catching bullpens and doing agility training already. He's probably ready for Opening Day.
  4. If they carry a 5th OF, it's Alfaro.
  5. Bloom should be selling the Mets on Brasier and Ort right now.
  6. https://www.baseball-reference.com/players/t/tovarce01.shtml
  7. If he's on the MLB roster, it's as a bench bat or due to an injury. I just think if they really want to maximize Dalbec's "utility" that there are other ways to do it. And yes, we are talking about it because half of the players are at the WBC and it's ST. Not much else to talk about right now. There's still a chance Dalbec isn't on the 40 man roster at the end of March.
  8. Anyway, Kluber threw 5 innings today. Whitlock threw 2. Martin and Joely each threw 1. Rays lineup wasn't great, but can't complain.
  9. I just think it's something that should probably go away now that it will be harder to truly shift on batters.
  10. Literally 3x worse. Tapia: -4 DRS in 935 innings Refsnyder: -5 DRS in 303 innings (would be ghastly if pushed to 900 innings)
  11. What do you mean? He got Refsnyder!
  12. Yoshida LF Duvall CF Verdugo RF Seems like the emphasis on defense in the OF will be "get the ball back in to the IF."
  13. Is it THAT much of a better choice when Refsnyder's defense is 3x as bad as Tapia's?
  14. @jcmccaffrey Kluber strikes out the side (all swinging) on 12 pitches to start the first against the Rays.
  15. Maybe some days? I'd be more inclined to sit Verdugo vs LHP.
  16. https://twitter.com/alexspeier/status/1636023656965980160 Bello is throwing his slider, changeup and sinker today. No issues noted.
  17. It means to me that you can't read much into his ST numbers.
  18. @BeyondtheMnstr Chris Sale on not getting the ball for Opening Day: “I definitely understood why he (Cora) did that and I really appreciate it. It takes the pressure off me a little bit, whoever starts that day, it’s going to be fine.”
  19. Is Sale being sent to the pen?
  20. Ortiz didn't have a 34% career k rate before coming here.
  21. Rob Refsnyder is a very bad defensive outfielder. Tapia's defense took a hit last year when put in CF and RF, but was still better than Refsnyder's. Tapia: -4 DRS in 935 innings Refsnyder: -5 DRS in 303 innings (would be ghastly if pushed to 900 innings) The projections are kinder to Refsnyder, but I think they heavily weigh his 2022 season. Refsnyder is definitely overrated by a lot of people on here. Tapia could be better than Refsnyder this year, but only if Refsnyder's offense bottoms out again (which isn't entirely unlikely). If he is better, it probably won't be by very much. Both guys are just 4th/5th OFer types.
  22. Well, I have to guess that Cora knows Sale better than either of us.
  23. @stephapstein I went to journalism school so I could provide you with this exclusive exposé: The Yankees charge their players for internet on the team plane. “It’s your fault,” they tell one another. “Your contract is too big, so they can’t pay for the Wi-Fi.”
  24. I was surprised the other day when I heard Sale wouldn't be starting. I still don't quite get it, but ok.
  25. Dalbec has a 927 ST OPS! ST OPS by year: 2020 775 2021 1164 2022 1052
