Ok, but we've had comparisons to Ellsbury and Jose Bautista when talking about Jarren f***ing Duran. I will delete my account if he has a 9.5 fWAR season or hits 50 bombs in a year in MLB. Both those guys ended with 30+ fWAR.

Duran career: 335 PA -0.8 fWAR Dalbec 2022: 353 PA -0.1 fWAR Considering that Dalbec was ok from 20-21, I think I'd be less inclined to give up on him than Duran.

They are both presumably breathing and anticipating a paycheck this season.

Unfair to compare Ellsbury 2007 to what we have seen from Duran in 2021 and 2022. Duran is just lost out there.

Baseball history is littered with prospects that can't make the jump to the bigs. Duran is most likely one of them.

I'd consider giving Dalbec run as backup 3B/RF. He also still has options and can work on his fielding down in WOO for the first two months before feeding him into the fire ala Arroyo.

Kind of unfair as he was on 4 teams in 2004 as a 23 year old. Age 25 season with PIT: 16 HR, 58 R, 51 RBI, 96 wRC+. Duran didn't come close to this last year. Bautista had Duran's AAA BB and K rates. Age 26 season with PIT: 15 HR, 75 R, 63 RBI, 97 wRC+. We'd all take that from Duran this season, but that is not going to happen.

What's definitive is his offense REGRESSED last season. He's been in the system for 5 years. Not much meat left on that bone.

What promise have you seen out of him? Dude can’t hit MLB velo. He has no defensive position. His power hasn’t played up in MLB.

Duran will turn 27 next season. Anything about his offense beimg a work in progress is embarrassing. DFA’able.

I’m also just thinking that he missed substantial time last year due to an additional injury.

Top 7 is above CBT. Sox should stay below that this season now. Next year, they should be over.

Everything stinks about Duran. Even hinting about him starting in CF is sad.

MLB teams have trended towards wanting guys that are closer to MLB than the A ball guys the Sox could deal.

Ort’s changeup is faster than Seabolds 4 seamer in some starts.

His velo is top 12% in MLB per Statcast.

We repeat that last sentence every offseason. The bottom of the 40 man is just filled with hopes and dreams and Jeisson Rosarios.

I just feel like there could be a cheap option available right now that would be an upgrade over either. Robbie Grossman? 137 wRC+ vs LHP in 2021. Adam Duvall? 129 wRC+ vs LHP in 2022. Pillar? He can field all 3 positions, but seems to have clubhouse issues.

Again, I'm not saying I agree with Brasier and Ort being on the 40 man. I would have DFA'd Brasier after the season. Ort still has options so I see some value in holding onto him for a little while. My big complaint will be just handing Thaddeus Ward over for free.

@IanCundall Connor Seabold hasn’t been the same pitcher since his elbow injury in 2021. Since he returned, he lost a grade of velocity & consistency w/his CH which was his best pitch. He’s been passed by other arms on the 40, so always thought there was a chance his spot could be in danger. His stuff was good enough post injury to succeed in AAA, but couldn't make the jump any higher.

@itsbrianbarrett Sox outfield -20 defensive runs saved - 26th Duran -7 DRS - tied for 104th of 115 outfielders (minimum 450 innings) Verdugo -5 DRS - tied for 93rd Kiké was at +14 DRS in 2021 - tied for 6th (minimum 750 innings) *The problem with moving Kiké is you are losing an elite OF Yoshida LF Duran CF Verdugo RF That would just be horrible for the pitchers.
