  1. Sale Day Verdugo RF, Devers 3B, Turner DH, Yoshida LF,*Duvall CF, Casas 1B, Arroyo 2B, McGuire C, K.*Hernández SS
  2. OR he could just be an adequate replacement catcher for a few years until the Sox actually figure out a plan for the future (Hickey, Brannon, etc.). Not every player has to be an All Star. Christian Vazquez is getting paid 12M this year and there's no way I'd pay him that.
  3. First WOO lineup of the year: 1. Jarren Duran- CF 2. David Hamilton- SS (#26 on the #SP60) 3. Bobby Dalbec- 1B 4. Enmanuel Valdez- 2B (#17) 5. Jorge Alfaro- C 6. Daniel Palka- DH 7. Niko Goodrum- 3B 8. Ryan Fitzgerald- RF (#54) 9. Greg Allen- LF
  4. In 2023, what is a #1 catcher? In 2022: Only 5 catchers qualified for the batting title. Only 14 had 400 PA's (this includes DH appearances and other positions).
  5. Metrics say that McGuire is a decent catcher. The organization believes that Wong can be a good catcher. All reports have stated that Alfaro is a terrible catcher. The only thing that he is good at is pop time and arm strength, BUT it doesn't even correlate with a high caught stealing rate!
  6. His CERA from last year was bad. The pitchers pitched bad yesterday. Therefore, McGuire is a bad catcher! Now, is CERA a stat that you can find on FanGraphs? If not, why?
  7. White Sox also needed bullpen help in the stretch run over a backup catcher. I think McGuire is ok. I don't think any other catcher would have fixed the issues the pitchers had yesterday.
  8. Pitchers should just change their cadence. That would solve everything. Brasier didn't even attempt a pick off.
  9. What 3 categories? The offense scored 9 runs.
  10. Mateo - 2 SB (35 in 2022) Mullins - 2 SB (34 in 2022) Frazier - 1 SB (11 in 2022) The most amount of SB's a Red Sox player had in 2022 was 13. Seems to be a roster construction issue? The Orioles have guys that can run. The Red Sox do not. The Red Sox did a s*** job of holding runners on though, especially Brasier.
  11. Says a lot about the "laugh" that was reported that came from DD at the time of the Rule 5 pick... Maybe it was a little sinister...
  12. Phillies can also retain him for the following season to reach the active roster limit before sending him down. He doesn't necessarily have to be returned if he is only on the roster for 80 days this year.
  13. Are you arguing that no team has ever made a bad trade before?
  14. I'm just not sure what the path is to getting Song to pitch in the near future. Lots of IL stints and MiLB rehab time? If I'm Bloom, I'd have a grievance ready to be filed.
  15. The pitching was bad. I liked the fight the offense put up. The Sox weren't going to go 162-0.
  16. Kelly should be the last man in the bullpen. Due to the injuries at the start of the season, he's going to play a larger role the first few weeks.
  17. Brasier and Ort were early projections for most DFA lists. Maybe they were right?
  18. The defense was whatever, it was really just the overwhelming amount of walks that did them in. After an offseason of Bloom going out of his way to limit walks, that was just embarrassing.
  19. Yes, he must be active for 90 days.
  20. Did the sound die for everyone else or just MLb.tv?
  21. Yes. Only Wednesday was a problem.
  22. No k zone today on NESN?
  23. But then you don't get the local nuance of hearing guys like Frank from Gloucester, Butch from the Cape, etc.
  24. That's not what he said.
