  1. If they phantom DL him, the Sox will file a grievance. It would be pretty ugly.
  2. He's definitely a SUSPECT with a capital S. He hasn't even pitched in 3 years. Comparisons to other players like Whitlock or Sale fall short as they were at least throwing off a mound during their rehabs and were working with MLB organizations. This guy was on his own and didn't have any baseball training regiment.
  3. He said he wasn't even consistently playing catch.
  4. No. He himself stated he hasn't thrown off a mound since 2019. DD said they don't know if he'll show up throwing 85.
  5. He's 93 on MLB. Bleacher Report isn't generally a great resource IMO.
  6. Per Noah Song: He didn’t throw off a mound between 2019 and last week. I'm sure it'll be fine.
  7. No, because, if that were true he wouldn't need to file an exemption! He was supposed to serve for 5 years. He hasn't finished that obligation.
  8. Too hot/humid to wear slippers down here. I tried that the first winter because of the tile floor, but it wasn't enjoyable. No slippers!
  9. I think they are both SUSPECTS!
  10. His request for exemption had been denied previously. Why would he assume it would go through this time?
  11. They need to attract some more young kids to grow up and help bravely shoot down balloons of the dastardly NIBBB.
  12. Some are even closed-toed!
  13. Nobody knew. Whatever happened, happened very recently. The best case scenario was for Song to be out this season and to come back next year when he'd only have to be on the 26 man roster for 60 days instead of the whole year.
  14. Again, they like Brasier because of his low bb rate and believe his end of the season turnaround will bleed into this season. I'm not entirely sold on it. I don't think there's a lot of upside with him and at $2M you may as well just move on IMO. With Ort, I guess he has options and throws hard? He has experience closing games in AAA? IDK. I would have dumped him before some of the recent DFA's for sure. I guess we all have our Julio Lugos.
  15. I think Bleier will surprise you. He has a career 3.06 ERA. I'd have him above a lot of the other relievers, maybe even Joely.
  16. I'm 100% pro naps and sunbathing.
  17. @MacCerullo Alex Cora says Brayan Bello is doing well and the plan is for him to throw a bullpen on Sunday.
  18. @MacCerullo Tomorrow's lineup vs. Northeastern, per Cora. Duran CF Devers 3B Hernández SS Yoshida LF Verdugo RF Alfaro DH Casas 1B Valdez 2B Scott C I'm interested to see how Scott progresses this season.
  19. @MacCerullo Cora on Enmanuel Valdez: "He can hit. He can hit. This kid, he gets it. He controls the strike zone, he can hit." Adds that he's more comfortable at second base than elsewhere but they'll keep helping him with his defense. Also impressed with Wilyer Abreu.
  20. As you said though, he's a SUSPECT!
  21. That's just sad. There rankings must be much better now.
  22. Wow, you don't have to call out Noah Song like that.
  23. Another interesting call for sure.
  24. I think it's a little different for a pitcher that hasn't pitched above rookie ball. Song was a guy that had mid-rotation potential. Now, he'll be lucky to stick in the pen. It's definitely changing his trajectory and not for the better. Normally, I don't buy into the "they ruined Cla Meredith" type stuff, but I do think this isn't the best scenario for him.
  25. Good. I hope being selected in the Rule 5 draft doesn't hinder his career.
