  1. Tyler Glasnow will miss Opening Day. Gavin Lux was carted off the field yesterday. He will be out indefinitely.
  2. Guys I'm excited to follow this season: Roman Anthony - potential breakout candidate. Luis Perales - will he be able to go a full season? Hickey/Brannon/Scott - can one or two of the Catcher show that they can stick there long term? Cutter Coffey - athletic, defensive 3B with plus power, but will probably be down in FCL most of the year. Can Sox get him to his ceiling?
  3. Deeply unlikable person, but yes.
  4. And the price point of the tickets made it less likely I was going to take the kids on a school night. We'll just wait for the local Low A team to start their season.
  5. I'd go with lackluster before a tired Pedro.
  6. Are you as upset about Rick Reuschel not being in? He has a better case than Tiant.
  7. Grich 69.1 fWAR, 2008 G Lou 68.1 fWAR, 2390 G Grich was better. Lou just held on for an extra season. It's close enough where it's just personal preference. I tend to look at Jaffe's HOF JAWS list on bref and go through that as a reference point, FYI.
  8. I was trying to decide about buying tickets for tonight's game. Red Sox lineup versus the Marlins: 1. Allen LF 2. Casas 1B 3. Dalbec 3B 4. Tapia CF 5. Refsnyder RF 6. Alfaro DH 7. Wong C 8. Sogard 2B 9. Hamilton SS Kluber P Pass!
  9. Just because someone has done it a few times doesn't mean you should do it with the season on the line.
  10. Evans is a bigger omission than Tiant. The biggest omissions in baseball would be Grich and Dahlen.
  11. Then wouldn't the same argument work for the 9th inning? Why make the demarcation as "just one more inning, but not two"?
  12. It’s just a bad opinion. He only had 3 CG the whole year. That wasn’t going to be the 4th.
  13. DD would have just traded away Alvarez anyway.
  14. Yes, we were told "the sound off his bat is different" and that the power would come. It never really did.
  15. I don't think that made a real difference. I think he just wasn't quite ready.
  16. If he's not on the Opening Day roster they may have to send him back to NYY!
  17. No mention of Sox letting Ryan Pressly go?
  18. What do you have against Adam Stern and Lenny Dinardo? Arauz was also prior to Whitlock, so I'm assuming you knew who he was. Sox also have Rule 5 history with Marwin Gonzalez, Josh Fields and Ryan Pressly. It was not a big deal from 2013-2018 though.
  19. Russell Wilson was a Rule 5 pick. Was Michael Jordan?
  20. I guess Kiké is pretty good! https://twitter.com/RedSox/status/1630275682419761152
  21. @PeteAbe Yoshida spoke the other day about needing to learn to play the sun because so many games in Japan are in domes. He did a nice job there of using his glove to shield the sun and make the catch. Well, his defense isn't a complete train wreck.
  22. At least you can say whatever you want on this part of TalkSox and not have a certain contingent yell at you.
  23. Russell Wilson
  24. Henry helped write the CBA. He could have had the rules adjust to his benefit.
