  1. For now? They can always make a change tonight if they need to.
  2. Currently, the media is just down on the Red Sox. They'd rather cover the other 3 teams anyway. Guys like Shaughnessy and Pete Abraham still have their jobs to do, but I'm not sure they have the negative influence that existed 20 years ago.
  3. I've heard him speak English. He wrote his introduction entirely in English. He doesn't speak it fluently, but I've heard he is actively working on it.
  4. You are the reason we are having this conversation. Initially, you showed concern that Yoshida may not be able to handle playing here. But now there is no pressure cooker? I don't get it.
  5. What's the spotlight this year? A lot of sportswriters were already writing this team off and saying that nobody cares anymore. If that's truly the case, shouldn't it be easier on these guys this year?
  6. There is probably some less day to day pressure playing for the Nats/Pirates/A's, but media really is 24/7 now for all of these guys.
  7. @SoxNotes Kiké Hernández would become the first player ever to make Opening Day starts for the Red Sox at 2B, SS, and CF. Only two players have started Opening Day games for the Sox at SS and CF: Jim Piersall (1950s) and Jack Rothrock (1920s).
  8. The biggest shock of those numbers would be for Paxton. I can see Sale getting to 140 innings. Paxton is ALREADY struggling. Sale struggled to get back due to flukey injuries. Paxton is struggling to come back due to his genetics.
  9. We like dingahs and he's got pop. He should fit in. His defense will be better than Manny or Wily Mo Pena or Schwarber. If he hits, people will like him. That inside out swing should get him a ton of doubles at Fenway.
  10. If I had to choose one alternative fact it would be: Mookie Betts is the starting RF for the Boston Red Sox on 3/30/23.
  11. Ort would most likely get DFA'd to make room for a pitcher. It's impossible that it could ever really happen, but that's how it would theoretically be done.
  12. Also, Yoshida is going into a season where most people are already down on the team. It's not like the expectations are that they will win the division. That microscope that may have once existed, just isn't there this season.
  13. Where does the belief come from that Boston is a tougher market to play in? I think the internet has become the great equalizer and has made Boston less of an outlier now. People are used to additional scrutiny. Besides from particular media members or the normal racist accusations that get thrown at fans in Boston, what is the real difference?
  14. They have different protocols in Kyoto.
  15. https://twitter.com/KatieMo61/status/1641118394865930241 AAA Opening Day Roster has been posted. Some interesting bits to note: Abreu in AAA (was projected at one point for AA) No Christian Koss? Whitlock gets Opening Day start Rafaela is in AA Mosqueda listed on roster (some projected he would get Ort's bullpen slot) Sherriff is in AAA
  16. What we post on here has no impact anywhere else. This place is like a black hole.
  17. On paper it's an 84 win team. I think the good vibes in the clubhouse get them another 4 wins and slightly overachieve. 88 - 80
  18. Oh no! Not in Boston! Are we worried about the s***** reporters or just racist nonsense being hurled from the stands?
  19. It's why I put "may" in my sentence. Who the hell knows...
  20. Was it from this notoriously fake account: @CBSBrenton #BREAKING The Boston Red Sox have DFA’d Kaleb Ort to make room for Ramiel Tapia. #MLBOpeningDay Or from the very unreliable fake news: @BostonStrong_34 ?
  21. They have jumped the gun on that one for now. It's likely to happen though.
  22. If the Sox are a middling team but there are big years from Yoshida, Casas, Bello and other future pieces, Henry may be convinced to keep Bloom.
  23. I disagree about the dice rolls working in 2022. Forming a rotation around Paxton, Wacha, Hill stressed out the bullpen and the IL. With an injured Sale, Chaim needed to acquire more sure bets for the rotation. Regression from Nate, JD and Kiké certainly didn't help.
  24. Mondesi is still not officially on the 60 day IL. The only move that is official is that Duran was sent to WOO. Other corresponding moves have not been announced.
