  1. Well, he is 92 and he's had a lot of stuff going on in his life since 2020. I'll leave it at that. He gets a pass from me. He'll watch all 161 Sox games available on MLV.tv or local cable this year.
  2. It's really the best advertisement for the Navy. Do you have a promising career and sports and like the Navy? Look at this high profile Noah Song case! Handled so well!
  3. Yeah, maybe! Probably why they'll go back to piggybacking him with Whitlock or Paxton when they return.
  4. He bitched about Big Papi being washed up for years, so maybe Sale can come around? It would take quite an effort though. The best part of the series was explaining to him who all the new players were and where they came from (Kluber, Turner, Tapia, Duvall). He didn't remember Kluber because that's how long it's been since Kluber has been relevant as a player to normal fans.
  5. Or how many times have we said "if only we had one two extra games in April?"
  6. This will root out the mystery Sox employee that Old Red believes posts on here!!! LOL I'm going to say 4/15. That's the 2nd game of the Angels series and the day after the Apple TV game. It is two weeks into the season.
  7. Hard to do it that way as 23, 24 and 25 would burn all his option years. You'd need to fast track him sooner than 2025.
  8. He wasn't actually the one flying the plane though as he is too tall.
  9. Unbelievable!
  10. Didn't see that one. Consider this Part II if that makes you feel better.
  11. Baseball Jesus. MVP Season. It's the 2 true outcomes that were promised...
  12. The worry with Schreiber is that his velo appears to be down and he had a bad Spring Training. We'll see if his stuff ticks back up. Joely should help when he comes back. Crawford and Houck may kick Ort/Brasier/Kelly out of the pen when Whitlock and Bello return. There was hope that Winckowski's pitch mix would "play up" out of the pen and so far it has. He wasn't hitting 97 with his splitter last year and 3 k's in 3 innings is good for him. That slider is still a below average pitch. He may need to stop throwing it or at least reduce using it.
  13. Sea Dogs Opening Day - 4/6 Drive Opening Day - 4/6 Salem Sox Opening Day - 4/6 FCL Red Sox - June DSL Red Sox - June
  14. Pitch clock is fine. The batter having to have his head up by 8 seconds is weird (was not a rule), but they'll have to adjust. I wonder if they will need to fix the amount of times they can attempt pickoffs if the SB numbers get too high. I like SB's and don't see a need for a change.
  15. Sitting with my 92 year old grandfather-in-law this weekend, I was very nervous about what he was going to say about Masa throughout the games. I think I did a good job of convincing him that Masa was good. His two favorite players are Kiké and Verdugo. He wants Sale gone because he hasn't done anything in forever. He HATES Kelly, Ort, Brasier and Wong.
  16. Also, I don't know what the talk has been about the LED lights, but I like the LED lights in theory, but hate how the Sox are currently using them. After the Duvall HR, they basically just flicked them on and off like a grandma trying to yell at her grandkids while she's babysitting. They either need to make it more subdued or add a spotlight or color or something else.
  17. I would either have two lines of stats (22 and 23) or show the stat line twice. On May 1, I'd then stop talking about 22.
  18. He would have been in the FCL probably the whole year. Maybe fast track him in 2024? It just shows that he wasn't really throwing meaningfully while he was with the Navy. It's a shame.
  19. I liked that even though they LOST the first game, that the team fought back and made it close. I felt like last year's team would have folded and just lost 10-5 or whatever. The offense kept fighting and I think that will serve the team well over the long run. That's kind of why I said this team was a 84 win team, but will end up with 88 wins. They seem like they'll outcompete some other teams throughout the long season.
  20. I would love to see a guy k 300 times.
  21. Sox Starters Opening weekend 11.1 innings - 30th 11.91 ERA - 30th -0.6 f(WAR) - 30th .360 OBA - 28th 51.4% hard hit rate - 28th 20% barrel % - 30th The good news is that it can't get any worse. The better news is that Whitlock and Bello should be back in the next few weeks. I have to imagine that Kluber's 10.8 bb rate will go down (1.15 last season). I have no idea what to expect out of Sale. Houck is a 3 inning pitcher at best.
  22. Because it's still early April.
  23. Billy Martin approves.
  24. Don't get worked up over small samples either way. I try to wait until Memorial Day before I really have a good idea on how a season is really going to go. The first series of the year is always over amplified.
  25. I'm sure you already know exactly how it's going then.
