  1. I know you're trying to be funny (and not being funny). But there was nothing mediocre about Aaron's offensive numbers in any context.
  2. I like your analysis moon, but the truth is, this level of inconsistency is the mark of a mediocre-bad team.
  3. That's the prevailing notion.
  4. If both were available, they would have drafted Mayer anyways. They would have drafted the best player available, because that is consistent with their M.O. Also one report from an outside source does not a fact make. And that's a fact.
  5. Are you trying to be funny or something?
  6. Nah, watching the games is enough brother. Devers clearly meeds his binky.
  7. I will go ahead and say that I was all Mayer, all the time. Notice how I always complain about not finding pitching in the mid-late rounds, but consistently state that their draft strategy is sound. I think the strategy of avoiding pitchers in the top 10-15 picks in the draft, unless they're freaks, is sound.
  8. So you're saying that you're not willing to give credit for moves that look like, but may not be a success, but you're willing to complain to the high heavens and be negative 24/7 for moves that look like, but may not be, a bust? Sounds consistent to me.
  9. A mea culpa, you are indeed correct.
  10. As "risk-averse" (ie. Cheap) teams are wont to do.
  11. I saw a lot of reports of scouts whining about him wanting a ton of money and not signing if he didn't get his desired figure.
  12. What report? Also, what you're saying is that the Red Sox weren't expecting the consensus best prospect in the draft to be available at number 4, but went with the best available talent instead of cheaping out, in a move that's looking better by the minute? What a blunder by Bloom!
  13. This is a clear indication of why the eye test is an incomplete and biased way to evaluate a player. Devers has been exactly as he looks on paper. Objectively good power numbers with a low average and K-prone, yet the eye testers are out here saying he needs a binky and whatever other stuff they can come up with. You can look at him and think he's pressing because of the swing rates, but y'all keep talking like he's lost his entire offensive toolkit because of one bad month because you "see" his childhood insecurities when he's up at the plate. Stop.
  14. Says who?
  15. Did they pass on him though? The only reason Mayer got to the Red Sox in the first place was league-wide concern about being able to sign the guy. So the Red Sox used that famous "team-mystique" and "financial muscle" to sign a guy who was far and away the most well-regarded prospect to that class. Kinda tired of the "fell in his lap" fallacy.
  16. I don't think you do, as you have consistently demonstrated.
  17. Least surprising stat I've ever seen in this site. Having your up-the-middle guys be below-average defenders (See: Hernandez, Kike; Valdez, Emmanuel) is a surefire way to lose more games than you win, unless you're scoring 5.5/game, which the Sox are not.
  18. He has soft hands, he could develop as an above average 2B, best case scenario.
  19. Certainly could've got some pitching last year by blowing this roster the f*** up, which we all know he should have done.
  20. As a HIT tool guy, that's concerning.
  21. So you're saying good defense can help in run prevention, especially for guys who don't strike out a lot of hitters? Cor Blimey! I never thought of it like that!
  22. Yet I don't see you mentioning Bogaerts anywhere. We get it, you want to complain, but come on.
  23. True, but the point stands. He's had international periods and time to trade for talent. Don't get me wrong, the improvement of the farm is massive, but his inability to acquire young pitching of any kind is surprising. I assume it's because, as MVP said, it's the same scouting team.
  24. Bro, did Casas cut you off in traffic or something?
  25. That's not what I meant. I meant that Yorke wasn't emulating Story. I have no idea where you got that.
