That homer on a pitch that was definitely a ball tells you a lot about the way he's changing up his approach. That was a big boy swing and a big boy homer.
And his current skillset also goes against Bloom's current roster construction tenets. He wants another take-and-rake team that can work the count and draw walks. JD has had to sacrifice working the count to maintain power numbers, and good for him.
I don't get why it's such a big deal. No one here hates JD, but it makes sense to discuss the reasons he was let go, and the performance of his replacement on this here baseball discussion board. It's not personal.
I mean, did I make up the .301 OBP, my brother?
And I see Bellhorn using his entire career, which doesn't fit the current context:
Last 3 years second half:
2022:.701 OPS
2021: .787 OPS
2020: Sucked all season
Notice a trend?
Cora's main weakness as a manager is his loyalty to his players, but that's also his greatest strength, especially generating that same fierce loyalty from his players. Gotra take the bad with the good.
Doesn't the FO build the roster though? It doesn't matter what he recognizes, much less what posters on an internet forum recognize, if that's the roster he's handed.
And the "kiss his ass" comment is uncalled for. You have too thin a skin to throw insults around
Main difference between Casas and the HOF of mediocrity you mentioned there is that Casas can actually take a pitch, something none of those guys could actually do. Even at his worst, he's useful because he'll work the count and put himself in position to succeed.
